The Minigun is a rotary machine gun that can only be found mounted on vehicles. It is only able to be used by entering the turret mounted seat of either the Celestial, SWAT Van, Bank Truck, Goliath or Striker.
Overview
With the Minigun, being vehicle-exclusive, gives it the power to be used in drive-by shootings; it cannot be handheld and is fixed onto the vehicle. Not only that, but to use it on the Celestial and SWAT Van, the player must have either the SWAT Gamepass or the BOSS Gamepass. It can however, be used for completely free if it is on the Bank Truck, Goliath or Striker (the two latter being only accessible if the player owns the vehicle themselves). It has an extremely quick firing rate but has quite a short range, low bullet velocity and high recoil.
As of February 2024, the minigun's size on vehicles have been scaled down, along with a damage and hit speed buff to both players and vehicles. The Minigun was later revamped on July 23, 2024 as part of the SWAT Toy Event, changing its model on every vehicle that uses the Minigun.
Performance
The Minigun, often being a niche, yet an interesting choice for gunfights and combat, is not operational from the driver seat, the Minigun rather behaves as a "seat" for the vehicle. Once a player takes control of the Minigun, it can be now used. Unlike most weapons, there is no ammo count when fired, however the Minigun has infinite ammo.
Minigun works on a unique "heating" system, that determines how long it can be fired for. When fired by holding the left-click, the Minigun's appearance slowly goes red as it fires without a break. Once the Minigun is vibrantly red and stops firing completely, it is in an "overheat" state, where the user cannot fire for 3 seconds. Once its heat color gradually fades away, the Minigun can be fired again.
Despite its many flaws and cons, the Minigun has some upsides that make it shine for different situations. Each bullet does 10 damage to players and 15 to vehicles, alongside very high firerate and the Minigun can fire for as long as 6 seconds. The use-time however, is dependant on the user's FPS (frames per second). 60 FPS can fire the Minigun for 6 seconds, but 100 FPS can fire for as long as 8-9 seconds.
Another note for its performance is the game's hit-registration also plays a significant role for the Minigun. Due to the high firerate, the game cannot handle too many hits multiple times at once. This results from having a Minigun that kills anyone in below quarter of a second, to an entire single second. Even then, the DPS is very high and can kill an unsuspecting enemy if they are standing still.
The Minigun has a 90 degree angle, at which it can only fire in that somewhat limiting degree. If a target gets out of the 90 degree angle, the vehicle must reposition or turn to allow the Minigun to reach the target again.
Its downsides are high and unpredictable recoil, and slow bullet velocity. The Minigun is not designed for long or at times, not even for medium range. Due to the Minigun's lack of any distant-based combat, it rather shines at close ranges where recoil can be controled towards the target and where adjusting the crosshair for any bullet predictions don't need to be addressed. The Minigun also has weak penetration due to its bullet velocity.
A rather small inconvenience is the user's position on the car. A Minigun user is basically one huge and easy target for enemies to shoot down, due to the lack of any cover, and its "seat" position being on the top of the vehicle. To pay off this downside, Minigun seats give damage protection, most doing 1.5x less damage. In comparison, "wall-banging" through walls using firearms do 2x less damage then what they would normally do.
Strategy
- The Minigun is not great for solo-players, as firstly they need to drive somewhere to a position where the solo-player has an angle on their target, then they need to jump out of the vehicle, and then finally use the Minigun and start firing. Inbetween these such actions can also be considered the risk of dying from any hostile enemies or having them simply flee and take cover before the Minigun can be used.
- The Minigun is rather a TEAM BASED weapon, 1 single driver and 1 Minigunner is a much significant improvement than a solo-player. The driver can continuously drive, evade shots from hostile players and reposition all without having to exit or get back into the car. While the Minigunner can simply shoot for as long as they want to.
- Getting more people for a Minigun-vehicle can work too, as they can provide additional firepower and can quickly replace a Minigunner if one dies in combat. Anything over 4 or more players just to use the Minigun is considered an overkill.
- The Minigun has some great uses outside of just killing players. Minigun SHREDS through forcefield bubbles planted by a Forcefield Launcher. Not only that, but it's increased damage towards vehicles, allows ground and especially aerial vehicles to be shot down with ease. That is unless the target vehicle isn't moving too fast to "swallow" the shots.
- If you are the DRIVER, its best to keep not only you, but your Minigunner alive, if there are too many hostile targets, it is rather best to drive away then to ram into them. Drive your car close to a singular target that won't stand a chance against a point-blank Minigun.
-If you are in CONTROL of the MINIGUN, be sure that you do not overheat it, as the 3 seconds can be very punishing. If a target is far away and due to the reason that the player cannot spray them down, its best to shoot in bursts to land accurate shots. It is also recommended to go into first-person, as it can be easier to control the recoil than in third-person. Do keep in mind, some vehicles can obstruct first-person views.
- The best vehicles that have the Minigun are Celestial and Striker. These 2 vehicles provide good speed and acceleration, alongside being small and having more than a 2 seat capacity. SWAT Van and Goliath are more slower and don't tend to be great for overall driving, but have more seats, allowing to have large groups inside those vehicles.

Trivia
- The Minigun is the second exclusive weapon in the game for SWAT and BOSS Gamepass owners, just after the Rifle.
- As of the 2020 Winter Update, anyone can use the minigun mounted on the Bank Truck.
- Anyone can also use the minigun on the Goliath and the Striker.
- As of the 2020 Winter Update, anyone can use the minigun mounted on the Bank Truck.
- The Minigun is the third vehicle-mounted weapon in the game, along with the Black Hawk, Jet missiles and Helicopter/Little Bird Drop-bombs/Missiles and before the Agent missiles and Stunt miniguns.
- asimo3089 once stated on Discord, "Players without the gamepasses can also use the Minigun but cannot drive the car.".
- When the Weapons/Items Update came out, this turned about to be true. However, it was changed a few hours after the update went live for an unknown reason.
- However this is true with the Bank Truck, Goliath and Striker.
- When the Weapons/Items Update came out, this turned about to be true. However, it was changed a few hours after the update went live for an unknown reason.
- If a player points the Minigun on a SWAT Van or Celestial upwards, it will not be able to enter enclosed/low openings like the Volcano Criminal Base or any tunnel. This can be used to a player's advantage to reach higher places, like the ladder on the Firetruck.
- There used to be a glitch where if someone hits another player with the Minigun it will reset to its normal position. This glitch has little documented information on it due to players rarely using Minigun in the first place.
- Players cannot point the Minigun backwards, only forwards.
- This weapon can be used in the Battle Royale gamemode, unlike many other guns probably because the developers did not expect anyone to use this to kill people.
- Many people have asked for a handheld version of this weapon, however this has not been confirmed to be added (or to be added at all).
- The Minigun is most likely based on a mixture of the M134 and M61 Vulcan Miniguns.
- If Robux is converted into Jailbreak cash, the Minigun would cost just under
25,000 for BOSS and just over
25,000 for SWAT.
- However it would be free if the user was using the Bank Truck, Goliath or Striker.
- Even though the Celestial and SWAT Van has the minigun mounted in the game, the garage GUI actually doesn't have the minigun in both models.
- The Minigun lacks any sort of trigger or button, meaning it would be unusable in real life.
