Gamemodes are minigames that can be played in Jailbreak private servers. They interrupted normal gameplay and placed changes on the game for a limited time, such as adding a storm of summoning weapon airdrops.
Overview
There are 3 gamemodes: Battle Royale, Alien Invasion, and Jetski Racing. They were previously activated by going to the Control Tower and inserting a token into their respective computer servers, however with the re-added Battle Royale, it can be activated in a private server via console command or the button found in front of the Prison. In a public server, if the vote failed, players would have to wait 15 minutes to raise another vote. Voting was not required in private servers.
All gamemodes were removed on the first day of the Return of Five Days of Vehicles Update, due to factors such as laggy gamemodes and lack of usage.
In the Return of Royale Update, Battle Royale returned to VIP servers with no cash required to start.

Overview
On August 28th, the Return of Royale Update re-added the Battle Royale gamemode, with various different changes. The first major change was that instead of going to the Control Tower to active the gamemode, players would instead have to enable the gamemode in private servers, and then going to the console, either by pressing the "~" key or going to settings and directly changing from settings to console, and then typing "gamemode" and then "Battle Royale" to enable the gamemode. This only works if you are the owner.
Gameplay
Starting a Battle Royale is free, but requires a private server. Once Battle Royale is activated, a server message will signal that Battle Royale has begun and every player will be teleported into the sky with a parachute at a random location and will land at that location. Stealth Jets will fly across the map every few seconds, dropping Airdrop Briefcases.

Original
Overview
Starting a Battle Royale match costs 1 token. Tokens can be obtained via Robux ( 10/Token) or the now expired "Royale" Twitter code. Once Battle Royale is activated, a server message will signal that Battle Royale has begun and every player will be teleported into the sky with a parachute at a random location and will land at that location. Stealth Jets will fly across the map every few seconds, dropping Airdrop Briefcases.
Gameplay
At the corners of the map, there will be a storm that will gradually close in. Each Battle Royale lasts 10 minutes. If a player dies, the player will be teleported and locked in the Server Control tower until the Battle Royale game-mode ends, where they will be able to spectate other players still in the game. There can only be one person that wins and the player will also receive 5,000 in-game. Most vehicles can be used in this game mode, but some have been banned due to them giving the player a significant advantage, such as aerial vehicles.

All the vehicles except the Camaro and Jeep cannot be used in this game-mode.
Overview
Starting an Alien Invasion game costs 10 Robux for a token. When started, a message in the chat will notify everyone in the server that the game will start. Players will be teleported to random places around the map, the map will receive a green appearance, and the sky will resemble outer space. There are two teams, the alien team, and the human team. When the round starts, there will be 2 aliens, and the rest of the server are humans. The aliens' objective is to infect all the humans, and the humans objective is to kill the aliens and try not to get infected. There also is a storm which can kill humans and turn them into aliens. When an alien kills a human, the human will become an alien. When a human kills an alien, the alien will spawn at a random location in the map. There is a 10-minute timer for the game-mode. When a team wins, all players on the team receive 3,000. Here is a list of available weapons and items:

Only the Jet Ski can be used in this game-mode.
Overview
The Jet Ski Racing game-mode was added in the HD / Racing Update. As the name implies, it is centered around racing with the Jet Ski. A token for this game mode can be purchased at the Control Tower for 10 Robux.
Route
Current
After the Oceans/Ships Live Update, a different route is constructed. The race starts at the side of the harbor. Players need to go under the old Drawbridge, then turn right while close to the coast line. Turn at the bridge near the Power Plant and go through the river at the Jetpack Island. Once exited the Canyon River, follow the coastline and turn at the river near the Criminal Lair. Follow the river and turn left at the river intersection. Follow the next river which naturally flows to the ocean. Follow the coastline again until reaching the old Drawbridge. Go through it and the race will end. The winner will receive 5,000 as a reward.
Outdated
The race itself takes place entirely in the river, on a course led by giant rings. Once the game-mode starts, all players are teleported to an area of the river near the Power Plant. They will automatically sit on Jet Skis and the race will begin without a countdown. Players must then rush to the end of the river near the entrance to the Criminal Lair, all the while following the blue rings and avoiding crashes. Note that if a player fails to go through a ring, their subsequent progress in the race will not be counted until they go back to it. This makes it essential to go through every ring in order to finish the race. Also, note that the finish line is not at the end of the river near the Criminal Lair. After reaching the ring there, players will be forced to make a sharp U-turn and race back towards the original start to reach the true finish line. If a player successfully avoids crashing into other racers going the opposite direction and makes it over the jump over Cheater Island, they will have a good chance of winning the race and receiving 5,000 as a reward.
During the race, there are a variety of text messages that appear on the racers' screens. When a player overtakes first place, the message "[Player's username in all caps] TOOK THE LEAD!" will show up in the orange text. The red "TURN AROUND!" text appears when the player is facing the wrong direction. When a player wins the race, the text, "[Player's username in all caps] WON THE RACE!" in yellow text.

Trivia
- For a short time during update testing, the Jet Ski Racing server box in the Control Tower had a typo. It was called "JETKSI RACING" instead of "JETSKI RACING".
- The Battle Royale game-mode is based on battle royale genre games such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) and Fortnite.
- The Black Hawk, Helicopter, and the Ambulance have been banned from Battle Royale as of the City/Weapons Update.
- There was a glitch where players could drive an Ambulance to a remote area of Jailbreak (the corners, namely) and hop in the stretcher. This will allow the player to theoretically have infinite health and take no damage against the storm. This was fixed in the City/Weapons Update, as the ambulance was banned from Battle Royale.
- Players can still use Houses & Apartments in gamemodes, however, in Battle Royale they risk being killed by the storm.
- The Volt has been banned from Battle Royale as of the Season 2 Update. Before that, you could use the Volt in Battle Royale, which gave a huge advantage due to it's insane speed.
- Players that die during Battle Royale can still spawn a Train, 10 Airdrops, and throw a party, due to them being locked in the control tower, where the buttons to spawn those things are.
- Criminals can still do robberies during gamemodes, however, they might die because of the storm.
- When Battle Royale is over, both criminals and police officers do not receive their items back, this is most likely a glitch.
- When Alien Invasion is over, if you were an alien, you will switch back to your current outfit instead of the alien outfit.
- The Alien Invasion game-mode was supposed to come out on April 21st. The game-mode's release was delayed because one of the Badimo members became sick.
- Aliens cannot take damage from the storm in the Alien Invasion game-mode.
- As of Season 3 & Jetpack update, players can now play game-modes in public servers. This requires at least 20 players to vote 'yes' when a player activates a game mode. If less than 20 players vote yes, your vote will fail, your token will be given back, and your
Robux will not be refunded.
- If a Battle Royale is started while a player is in a Jet or Stunt, that player will keep their items and will not be damaged by the storm. This will most likely be fixed in the future.
- There is a glitch where if the player votes yes for the Jetski Racing game-mode as a prisoner, they will be teleported to the race starting area, eventually becoming a criminal without escaping.
- In all game-modes except Battle Royale, only the free vehicles (the Camaro and the Jeep) can be used.
- However, if you own the Boss or SWAT gamepass and have the Celestial or SWAT Van, you can use them, as they would be free if they didn't cost
Robux.
- On a further note, the Jet Ski could be used, but only in the Jet Ski Racing game-mode.
- However, if you own the Boss or SWAT gamepass and have the Celestial or SWAT Van, you can use them, as they would be free if they didn't cost
- There is a glitch where if you go through the ring in the Jet ski racing, you will die, causing you to lose the race. It is unknown what causes the glitch.
- The Alien Invasion game-mode's name was changed to "Alien Infctn" in an unknown update. It's likely supposed to be called Alien Infection, when spelled correctly. This may have been as a joke or to save space, as only the vowels are removed.
- Sometimes, players aren't teleported to the Jet Ski Racing area, most likely due to a bug.
- Responding to a tweet, asimo3089 said that he was thinking about removing gamemodes.
- However, asimo3089 has recently thought about revamping gamemodes and add new modes.
- Recently, asimo3089 announced that all the gamemodes are set to be removed in the first day of the Return of 5 Days 5 Vehicles Update. This is due to a few factors such as laggy gamemodes and poor usage in servers.
- However, the Return of Royale update brought back the Battle Royale gamemode (hence the update name), albeit only being accessible in Private Servers. [1]
