Sakamoto (坂本, Sakamoto) is a professional rally driver, who was recruited by the Northern Saitama Alliance to race for them in their battles with Project D.
History
Saitama and Ibaraki Arc
He was outsourced by Wataru Akiyama, recruited by Nobuhiko of the Northern Saitama Alliance in a desperate measure to defeat Takumi of Project D in a downhill race using a Suzuki Cappuccino, a Kei Car lighter than the Eight-Six. His speciality is driving Front engine, rear drive layout cars.
Kanagawa Expedition Arc
Sakamoto was one of the few spectators alongside Nobuhiko and his cousin, watching Project D's last showdown against Sidewinder.
Trivia
- In some of the Arcade Stage games and the Funimation subtitles for Fourth Stage, he is said to be a Ferrari driver, this is a mistranslation, as he is a Rally driver.
- This is likely due to the Japanese pronunciation of rally (Rarī) being similar to Rari, a nickname for Ferraris.
- Sakamoto is his surname, and his first name has never been stated.
- Sakamoto was playable in Initial D Arcade Stage 8 Infinity In Rivalside.
- In the Arcade Stage series, Sakamoto will be shocked if the player performs a blind attack.
