Mamoru (守 (まもる) Mamoru) is a member of the Akina SpeedStars that appeared in the Legends trilogy. Not much is known about him as he has little screen time, with his last name and age never being revealed. He has brown hair, black eyebrows and brown eyes. He drives a Mitsubishi Lancer EX.
History
Mamoru can be seen hanging out at Esso Gas Station with other members of the Akina SpeedStars Koichiro Iketani, Kenji, and Shigeru. At the gas station he and the other members discus what they are going to do about Keisuke Takahashi driving on Mount Akina. When Iketani says that the SpeedStars aren't Keisuke's target he explains his disbelief that an AE86 could be that good and beat an FD.
During a Speedstars practice session, The Akagi RedSuns show up on Mount Akina. Here they challenge the Speedstars to a street race the following Saturday. The SpeedStars accept the challenge, then Fumihiro (A member of the RedSuns) explains that for that night they would just be having a slow practice and would follow all street racing rules and customs. Once the RedSuns start the downhill run, Mamoru and the rest of the speed stars quickly chase after them. However, Mamoru and the others are quickly left behind by the RedSuns. After they get back up the hill Mamoru talks to the others about how the RedSuns are on a different level than the SpeedStars.
Before the battle between Takumi Fujiwara and Keisuke Takahashi Mamoru is seen driving up the mountain towards the Akina starting line behind Kenji in his Nissan 180SX with Iketani and Itsuki Takeuchi and Shigeru in his Toyota Starlet At the starting line before the race when Takumi Fujiwara finally shows up, Shigeru and the other SpeedStars are in disbelief that it is him and not his father Bunta. After the race he is seen celebrating Takumi's victory with the other members of the SpeedStars.
He is seen hanging out at the Essos Gas station with Iketani, Kenji, Itsuki, Shigeru and Takumi where Itsuki explains how he accidently accepted a challenge for Takumi from Takeshi Nakazato. When they ask if Takumi will race he says that he is not a street racer and goes to help a car he wants to fill up with gas. The members talk about how they will be in trouble if Takumi doesn't except the challenge and that Takeshi might be to much for him to handle.
Mamoru and the other members of the SpeedStars are confronted by Shingo Shoji and other members from his street racing team the Myogi Night Kids who challenge Takumi to a Gumtape Deathmatch. Takumi accepts the challenge and Mamoru and the other members try to tell Takumi that he doesn't have to race but he doesn't listen and races anyway. Mamoru is seen in is Mitsubishi Lancer EX following the race with other SpeedStar members, after they find Shingo's EG6 Hatchback crashed into the guard rail they help drive him to the hospital after the crash because they would get him there faster than and ambulance.
Mamoru is seen at the staring line on Mount Akina to watch and cheer on Takumi during his race. After the race nobody celebrated Takumi's victory including Mamoru

- Mamoru is never seen without the other members of the SpeedStars
- Both Mamoru and Shigeru were exclusive to the films as they were never mentioned in the manga and the original anime series
