Rendo is a treasure hunter and classified villain. He travels across the world in search of treasures and a variety of rare objects like Shards with his fellow treasure hunters.

He would meet Hero Killer and become acquainted with her after they teamed up to survive the Forest of Immortals together during the Invasion of Castle Gray.

Rendo was first seen in The Torch Arc but was officially introduced in Assault on Castle Gray Arc, where he and his colleagues decided to join the Villains in the Invasion of Castle Gray led by the infamous Smiling Man, Engen as they wanted to take advantage of the invasion to look for rare treasures in the snow-covered lands.

Appearance

Rendo is a tall, muscular man with dark olive eyes and brown hair. He has long earlobes, resembling those of an ancient Buddhist monk, pierced with earrings on both sides. For clothing, he wears a blue robe resembling a hanbok, paired with white pants and black taesahye-style shoes, reflecting a look reminiscent of ancient Korea. He carries two enormous, guardless blades on his back, which he wields in battle.

Personality

Rendo comes across as insightful and talkative, carefully choosing his words. While classified as a Villain, he isn't particularly horrific or sadistic. In his own words, he is a seeker of rarities in his treasure hunting profession. He understands that the true value of an item lies in its rarity—small but able to fetch a high price.

Aside from his treasure hunter's mindset, Rendo is level-headed. This was evident when he first met Hero Killer, who was agitated and eager for a fight, yet Rendo remained calm during their time fighting together. He isn't too proud to seek help from others and views his past mistakes as valuable lessons to learn from.

History

A treasure hunter by trade, Rendo travels across the known world, moving from District to District in search of rare items, Shards, and other valuables, which he collects and sells to buyers. However, he ran into trouble and was classified as a Villain by the Hero Clan due to a certain incident.

At one point, Rendo and a group of colleagues ventured to Castle Gray in search of treasure. They crossed the haunting Forest of Immortals when it was still smaller, and the mist was dense and heavy. Rendo was confident, knowing that their impressive skills would allow them to move quickly through the dangerous forest without much trouble.

However, something unexpected appeared before them—drawn to the EST of Rendo and his colleagues. These creatures were the Human-Faced Plants, as Rendo would later learn from locals. The monsters overwhelmed the group, killing everyone except Rendo, who made the decision to retreat.[1]

Story

The Torch Arc

Rendo is among the Villains who answeredEngen, the Smiling Man's call to attack the Hero Clan during their transport of The Torch.

Assault on Castle Gray Arc

Rendo later returns to attempt another search for the treasures of Castle Gray by participating in the Smiling Man's Invasion of Castle Gray. As the Villains make their way through the forest, Rendo encounters Hero Killer, who has just finished off some bounty hunters targeting her.

Rendo expresses mild surprise at her cruelty, but Hero Killer explains that she has no reason to be kind to those who sought to kill her. She then asks if Rendo wants to fight, but he declines, instead suggesting they stick together since he was separated from his companions due to the thick mist of the forest.

Rendo warns Hero Killer that the dangers of the forest go beyond the wooden monsters she has already defeated. He recalls his previous experience in the Forest of Immortals, which has grown much larger since his last visit.

Rendo explains that the Forest of Immortals is home to much more sinister creatures, which become increasingly dangerous the deeper one goes, even for someone as strong as her. Hero Killer dismisses his warnings, seeing the danger as an opportunity to test her newfound strength. She stomps on the ground, creating a shockwave, and declares she's eager to find out.

Hero Killer then challenges Rendo, asking who he is to judge her strength, while she prepares for the coming fight. Rendo warns her not to boast of her strength in the woods, briefly sharing the story of his previous venture into the Forest of Immortals, which ended in near-total annihilation. He recounts how he was the sole survivor after encountering the creatures of the forest, which were drawn to their EST.

Rendo identifies these creatures as the Human-Faced Plants, and as one of them stares at them with an eerie grin, it attacks. The two fight the creature, with Rendo hacking off its arm while Hero Killer unleashes everything she has. Despite the monster's wounds, Rendo tries to convince Hero Killer to escape, but she refuses and tells him he can leave if he wishes. Instead, Rendo stays to help her finish off the creature.

Hero Killer and Rendo Retreat

Exhausted but victorious, the two are soon confronted by more Human-Faced Plants. They retreat, fending off attacks until one of the monsters unleashes a tendril that spreads spores, withering the nearby trees and plants. Rendo uses his Moonblade swordsmanship to cut through the spores, but the plants quickly surround them. Just as the monsters prepare to devour them, a woman leaps in, instantly killing one of the creatures with a powerful kick and proceeding to destroy the rest.

The woman is revealed to be Hekate, the personal assistant of Victoria, who offers to guide them through the forest.[2] The remaining plants attack her but fail to pose a challenge, as she swiftly finishes them off. Rendo sheathes his swords and accepts Hekate's offer of help. He asks Hero Killer what she wants to do, but she responds indifferently.

Later, Rendo becomes a bystander as Hero Killer and Hekate engage in a fierce fight, with Hero Killer seeking to test her strength.[3] Afterward, Rendo is amazed at Hero Killer's choice of food, as she cooks and eats the deadly spores from the Human-Faced Plants.[4]

As they continue their journey, they watch the beginning of the battle, where other Villains like Needles, SJ, and an Orange-Haired Man gather to witness the clash as well.

After the Hero Killer's fight the Puppeteer and Mad Elder accepting Engen's challenge, Rendo watches as Puppeteer collect the dead bodies of soldiers with her controlled corpses. He remarks that it is a disturbingly grotesque sight, but once again, he is amazed at Hero Killer's hunger as she devours an entire boar. She explains that one must eat when they need to, and Rendo agrees, noting the abundance of wild animals and spoils of war in the area.

Hero Killer then asks why Rendo isn't interested in the spoils, and he explains that he only seeks Shards, not trinkets. He introduces himself again while offering her a drink, explaining that he prefers to claim his spoils and return home immediately.

Hero Killer, intrigued by his perspective, empties her pockets of her spoils, shocking Rendo. He admits that he is personally interested in her, seeing her as different from other Villains who are mainly after gold or fame. He observes that she doesn't care about conquering Castle Gray and is more interested in the battles themselves. He wonders what her ultimate goal is, to which Hero Killer responds that she has many enemies to kill, including one who is somewhere in Castle Gray.

She then brandishes a sword created from her Gift and asks Rendo if he'd like to join them, but he declines, unwilling to risk his life for something that offers no return. He suggests they meet up after the invasion is over, as they may be able to help each other, but Hero Killer doubts it.[5]

Days later, Rendo is seen fighting against the armies of Castle Gray as Reagan Sinclair's Project Yggdrasil begins spreading throughout the castle and the main keep, killing the residents.
