Mercury Body is the Gift used by John Nash. It allows him to turn his body into mercury.
Description
The Gift enables John to transform his body chemistry into mercury. Years ago, John gained his Gift and abilities after being experimented on by Project Newborn. He is one of the three known successes of the horrific program aside from the late Daemon and Zaran.[1]
Initially, he could only transform into its liquid state and when physically hurt in combat, his body will lose its mercury instead of sustaining life-threatening wounds giving him a unique form of durability.[2]
However, the Gift's most notable ability is it that allows John to heal and resurrect himself from death based on the amount of mercury remaining in his body. This has saved John from thrones of death numerous times.[3]
Usage
At first, John only really relied on his own strength for combat and would use Mercury Body's passive ability to save himself from death while recovering. But after too few victories along with the continued rise of powerful enemies, he grew frustrated at his lack of progress. After some advice from Rachel, John started focusing on improving and further developing the Gift.
During his fight with Dahais, John learned how to solidify his body into alloy albeit with brittle-like results while exposing the knight to Mercury poisoning through touch and by turning into a gas state. [4]
Weaknesses
The more mercury John loses, the more it affects his overall appearance, as he will revert to a younger (and smaller) version based on the amount of damage he took. If he takes a catastrophic amount of damage, John may revert to an infant's appearance (and abilities). It also takes time for John to regenerate his body back to its default appearance.[5]
Trivia
- The Gift is an obvious reference to the T-1000 from Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
