Whealtey is the former deuteragonist turned main antagonist of Portal 2, however in the Portal Level Pack campaign for Lego Dimensions, he is once again the deuteragonist.
Personality
Wheatley is talkative and friendly at first, although his main motivation in befriending Chell seems to be obtaining her help in escaping. He frequently second guesses his own decisions and is not especially assertive, always trying to persuade Chell to go along with his plans rather than demanding that she do anything. Despite his general indecisiveness, he shows initiative in seeking out Chell to act on his own escape plans. He is patient and, when his actions lead to unpleasant consequences, he is quick to take responsibility and apologize - although usually as a lead-in to asking Chell to go along with another of his plans.
Wheatly is extremely remorseful for his actions. He shows genuine remorse for betraying Chell (although this wasn't his fault given that GLaDOS's body corrupted him) and often wishes he could apologize to those he's wronged. Wheatly is often very chatting making others around him see him as an extremely annoying individual, although Wheatly doesn't mean to be annoying. This means that Wheatly often struggles to understand social cues and isn't the best at socializing. Wheatly is very charismatic of others as he shows genuine care for Chell when he returns with her in LEGO Dimensions.
Biography
Wheatley is first seen with Chell helping her escape her cell. Wheatley helps her escape the Aperture Science facility after Chell had been put into stasis for presumably years. Wheatley and Chell are on their way to escape the Aperture Science facility; Wheatley ends up accidentally activating GLaDOS who crushes Wheatley and throws him away. Wheatley manages to survives this with the help of a spare core, and helps Chell in her quest to escape the facility. Wheatley is seen hiding in hidden parts of the facility as he secretly aids Chell in her quest to escape and destroy GLaDOS.
Eventually Wheatley helps Chell get to GLaDOS and the two work together to take down GLaDOS. Once she's defeated Wheatley gains control of the facility; what the duo didn't expect was for the body of GLaDOS to corrupt Wheatley. In order for Wheatley to gain control of the facility he put himself into GLaDOS's body, but GLaDOS's body was programmed to always experiment with science. This meant that Wheatley was corrupted and then proceeded to betray Chell and threatens her. Wheatley tells her that she only used him and he was tired of being used. GLaDOS tells him that he didn't any of the work (although this isn't true since Wheatley helped out a little bit in beating GLaDOS) Wheatley in response turns GLaDOS into a potato battery.
Wheatley takes over the facility and because he did he begins running tests on Chell much like GLaDOS did. What they didn't expect was for him to take GLaDOS's experiments and put his own "spin" on them. GLaDOS calls him out on this, but he ignores her and continues with the tests. GLaDOS then calls him a moron, Wheatley in response throws a fit of rage by saying he's not a moron and shows genuine anger at this statement. Later Chell and GLaDOS manage to get to his chamber and confront him. Wheatley states the facility is about to explode and he has been studying the final boss fight from the first game and has changed all the things that allowed GLaDOS to be defeated then, such as no usable portal surfaces and the immediate activation of deadly neurotoxin. Despite this, Chell is still able to corrupt and replace his personality cores. Chell is about to press the button that replaces him with GLaDOS, however Wheatley says that he booby-trapped the button and it explodes, injuring Chell. This causes the facility to take damage which makes everything start to malfunction.
This includes the panels and on one of the panels it reveals the moon in the sky. Chell fires a portal to the moon which in turn sucks everything into its surface, this makes Wheatley get detached from his body and he starts being sucked into the portal. He begs for Chell to not let go, since Wheatley was detached from his previous body that belonged to GLaDOS he goes back to normal. GLaDOS smacks him away causing him to get sucked into the portal, thus causing Wheatley to drift off into space.
While in space, Wheatley feels remorseful and sorry for how he betrayed Chell, and if he ever met her again he would tell her sorry, this is presumably due to the fact that he's not in the GLaDOS's mainframe anymore implying he's not corrupted anymore.
Powers and Abilities
- Flight: Wheatley can freely fly through the air, as seen in LEGO Dimensions.
- Control over Aperture: Wheatley can plug into various areas in Aperture Laboratories, allowing him to take control of many of its functions and power things like elevators. This ability is highly enhanced when Wheatley replaces GLaDOS, gaining complete control of the facility.
- Flashlight Eye: Wheatley's eye can function as a flashlight.
- Bombs: Wheatley can summon and throw red bombs.
- Teleportation: Wheatley has been shown to possess the ability of teleportation. This has thus far only been seen in LEGO Dimensions.
- Portal Creation: Also in LEGO Dimensions only, Wheatley can open portals. This has only been done once, at the beginning of the Portal campaign, when he enters the facility.
Other Media
Lego Dimensions
Wheatley returns in Lego Dimensions with Chell. Chell for some reason ventures back into the old facility, everything there has been restored and fully repaired since the last time she was there. Wheatley somehow manages to return to the facility as well as he gained the ability of teleportation. Wheatley also gains the power of anti-gravity, he begins using this power to fly around. The duo begin travelling throughout the facility. Wheatley this time around shows great remorse for betraying Chell before hand and expresses that he only wants to her friend this time around.
Wheatley constantly taunts GLaDOS and makes extremely arrogant comments regarding her. Chell completely ignores him though. The duo then head down an elevator; it ends up breaking down and Wheatley tells Chell that he can't support two people at once, despite this Chell still holds onto Wheatley and the duo end up falling down the shaft. Chell doesn't catch Wheatley , in response Wheatley sarcastically "thanks" her.
The duo soon confront GLaDOS who seems a lot more cheerful than usual, she says that she has a plan to kill Chell that being her neurotoxin. Before the fight begins however, GLaDOS reveals the Space Core to which Wheatly talks about how annoying they are. Ironically Chell punches Wheatley due to how annoying he was being for talking about how annoying the Space Core was. Once the fight beings with GLaDOS and the deadly neurotoxin Wheatley begins panicking; he quickly realizes that he doesn't need to breath so he's not affected by the neurotoxins. Wheatley tries to help Chell as he tells her to put Space Core in charge of the facility. The duo then are able to defeat GLaDOS and the two encounter a blue portal where they leave the facility for good.
Poker Night 2

Wheatley makes an appearance in Poker Night 2. Much like the other cores GLaDOS uses the cores as chips in the game of poker. Interestingly enough Wheatley doesn't talk at all much like how he does in portal.
Team Fortress 2

“ | Not the pocket. | „ |
~ Wheatley after Spy puts him away. |
Wheatley appears in Team Fortress 2. Wheatley is a variant of Spy's sapper, he functions exactly the same way except that when he saps things he has exclusive voice lines.
