Mr. Turner, most commonly known as Dad, is the husband of Mrs. Turner, Timmy's father and a major character of The Fairly OddParents.
He is usually depicted as one of the most idiotic characters on the show, rivaled only by Cosmo (and even there Cosmo is considered smarter). As a running gag throughout the series, his first name has never been revealed. He is either referred to as Timmy's Dad or something such as a truck noise blocks the revealing of his actual name. Mr. Turner's arch-nemesis and next-door neighbor is Sheldon Dinkleberg.
In the episode "Father Time!" when Timmy destroys a very important 30-year-old trophy of his father's, who gets mad at him, so Timmy wishes his father never won it. Using his new time traveling scooter, Timmy goes back in time and prevents his father from winning the trophy. But after he realizes that he won it in a race to impress Timmy's mom years ago, Timmy returns to the present to realize he's unknowingly created a bleak future where he doesn't exist, and therefore has no fairy godparents and as a result, his father has become an insane dictator who's taken over the world.
He is voiced by Daran Norris, who also played the live action version of him in the "Fairly Odd Movie" and also voiced Cosmo in the series.
Trivia
- Amusingly, when Timmy time traveled, he learned that Mr. Turner's nickname as a child was "Dad," thus keeping his real name hidden even when he'd most likely use it as a kid.
- In the original show's sixth season, he starts to make more appearances. In the eighth season, he is present in all of the episodes. In the show's ninth season, his appearances exploded, appearing more frequently than ever, he was put into a lot of episodes having a major role (that includes episodes that don't directly focus on him), which he is mostly used for humor and running gags. This is due to being Butch Hartman and the writer's favorite character alongside Mr. Crocker and sometimes Foop. He later admitted in a video that he no longer had any interest in a lot of characters, favoring the aforementioned characters instead. Due to that happening, it caused many fans to get sick and tired of them over time, and it was considered a reason for The Fairly OddParents' downfall.
- In the episode "Odd Jobs", he says, "I will be on a mission to Uranus for 23 years! See you when I'm 65!" This implies that he may be 42 years old.
