Biography
Background
Little is known about Molly O'Shea's past, but she herself claimed to be born into a wealthy family into Dublin, the irish capital. Prior 1899, she met Dutch van der Linde and joined his gang. They will later be romantically engaged.
Events of Red Dead Redemption II
Chapter I: Colter
By 1899, the gang is running away after the failed ferry robbery in Blackwater and is trying to survive and finding enough money to move far away from the United States and live a new life. Dutch and Molly are still engaged and by the first chapter, in the abandoned town of Colter, she escorts him to his room after the gang returned from Sadie Adler's ranch and rescued her. She will stay with him throughout the chapter.
Chapter II: Horseshoe Overlook
In the second chapter, their relationship is stable and she can be often found in Dutch's tent, making her makeup or writing poetry. After Sean MacGuire was rescued from Blackwater by Arthur, Charles, Javier and Trelawny, Dutch amorously invites Molly to dance with him to the music of his gramophone.
Chapter III: Clemens Point
After the gang relocates from Horseshoe Overlook to Clemens Point after a shootout and confrontation with Leviticus Cornwall in Valentine, Dutch and Molly's relationship starts to break, as Dutch neglects her and doesn't give her any attention. She then often argues with him and spends most of her time away from his tent and even tries to talk to Arthur about him, but Uncle interrupts them with a potential coach robbery. It can be theorized that it was at this time that she was first approached by Pinkertons agents Andrew Milton and Edgar Ross who questioned her about the gang's whereabouts, as Molly tells Arthur that like Dutch said "loyalty is important" and as her attachment for Dutch was intact, Molly didn't told a single thing to them.
Chapter IV: Shady Belle
A few time later, after a run-in with Agents Milton and Ross in Clemens Point and the gang relocation in Shady Belle, thus leading to the fourth chapter, Molly tries to talk to Dutch, but he answers that he is too busy for a chat and leaves with Arthur to explore the city of Saint Denis, capital of the state of Lemoyne. Oftentimes, if the player interacts with her, she might cry out in sadness and dialogue to herself when she is alone indicates that she's in depression now. Like a few other gang members, Molly can be seen running in Shady Belle's manor after the O'Driscolls attacked the gang in the mission Horsemen, Apocalypses. After Dutch murdered Saint Denis Italian Mob boss Angelo Bronte, the gang robbed the Lemoyne National Bank but had to fight Pinkertons and Arthur, Dutch, Bill, Javier and Micah were forced to hide on a boat at night, who was washed offshore to Guarma Island. After they succeeded to return at the end of Chapter V, Molly disappear. Other gang members, such as Susan Grimshaw, expresses their concern about it.
Chapter VI: Beaver Hollow
Molly's last appearance opens the sixth and final chapter of the game in 1899. Uncle finds Molly drunk in Saint Denis and bring her back to Beaver Hollow. She immediately confronts Dutch about his negligence and mistreatment of her, drunk and crying out in madness, before declaringthat she was the one who told Ross and Milton about the robbery in Saint Denis and all about what Dutch planned. An enraged Dutch pulls out his gun as Molly continues to cry that she loved him, calling him a "goddamn bastard", before ordering him to shoot her. Arthur tries to convince Dutch not to kill her, but before anyone can decide, Susan promptly shoots Molly in the stomach with a shotgun, instantly killing her. She asks Simon Pearson and Bill Williamson to burn the body and orders the others to get back to work. Following her death, most of the gang is convinced that she got what she deserves, but Arthur can witness an heated argument between Susan and Karen Jones, immediately after the cinematic, and a dialogue between Mary-Beth Gaskill and Tilly Jackson may occur in camp, Mary-Beth saying that she "can't get over" Molly's death.
It will later be revealed by Milton to Arthur that Molly lied and never revealed a single thing on the gang. The traitor was in fact Micah, who, according to Milton, started working for them after their return of Guarma. Thus, her death is useless and unjustified.
Legacy
Molly's name is wash by Arthur after he revealed Micah's treason to the gang, even if Dutch, now completely broke mentally, doesn't believe him. Susan regrets Molly's mistaken death and immediately sides with Arthur and John Marston, the latter making a surprise appearance, believed dead and left behind to die by Dutch after a final train robbery. This standoff ultimately ends with Arthur's and Susan's death, while John is able to reach his family with Arthur's sacrifice.
Molly, alongside Arthur, Susan, Hosea Matthews and Lenny Summers are avenged seven years later when John, with Sadie Adler and Charles Smith is able to trace Micah and gun him down.
