Mama Luna is a supporting protagonist from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
She is a cat lady who owns a cat rescue center on top of a hill. Puss goes to this rescue center after the doctor of Del Mar warns him of the dangers of continuing his adventures, and when he meets up with Death at the local bar. From there, Puss lives a boring pampered life in the center, where Luna is keeping him from doing things such as cooking or using the toilet.
She was voiced by Da'Vine Joy Randolph
Appearance
Mama Luna is an elderly dark-skinned woman with poofy hair and a pair of glasses. She is seen wearing an outfit made up of a yellow vest and a blue dress with a cat pattern on it.
Personality
Mama Luna is considered a "crazy cat lady", as she always keeps numerous cats in her house, however she has a discreet side as she does not approve of certain things such as: Puss using the toilet and cooking instead of using cat litter and eating cat food as and with other cats and as when he gives cats corny names like Puss, "Pickles".
She is extremely reclusive, as she chases everyone away because she always thinks visitors are spies from the health department and she denies having cats. She doesn't appear to be very intelligent either, as she never realized that Perrito was actually a dog disguised as a cat.
History
Village Doctor advises Puss to retreat to Mama Luna's house where she takes in all the stray cats, since her other 8 lives have already been used and to avoid another sudden death. Puss arrives at his destination, at Mama Luna's Cat Rescue, where he is greeted by Mama Luna, who tells him that her house will be her "forever home".
Mama Luna thus gives them a bath and gives them a new name "Pickles". Puss/Pickles tries to adapt to this new life, but Mama Luna sprays him and forces him to live like all the other cats: feeding him dry cat food and making him use the litter box like other cats, much to Puss' humiliation.
While she is napping in the rocking chair with her cats all over her, Goldilocks and Three Bears break into the house, as Baby Bear has smelled Puss there and the four are looking for him to hire him to steal from Jack Horner the map to the Wishing Star. Mama Luna thinks for the umpteenth time that they are from the health department and she acts crazy by yelling at the practice cats to go to the "safe room" and hits Papa Bear on the nose with a broom. She is then grabbed around the neck and first threatened gently and then angrily which later causes her to pass out. She is then stuck in the piano by Papa Bear to make her talk about her and he begins to play, much to her disappointment as she says that her cats play better than him, but Papa Bear continues to play, locking her inside her.
After Puss is left for dead by Goldi and Bears and they leave, Puss takes back his buried things, Mama Luna's house and ventures to steal the Wishing Star map, and begrudgingly allows Perrito to come with him.
Mama Luna is not seen again for the rest of the film after this.
