However, Leo soon discovers that Nicholls is corrupt, prompting Leo to devise a long-term plan to take down and arrest Nicholls prior to his first encounter with the Undercover unit.
Personality
Leo is known to be a fairly competent police officer with good instincts.
Notable storylines
Shortly after joining the unit, Leo is undercover working alongside two professional burglars Dave Williams and Mark "Weasel" Burridge, when he discovers that the two of them are responsible for the shooting of two police officers during their previous burglary, with one of the officers dead, and the other seriously wounded. This prompts him to alert both Harris and the Homicide unit’s Eric Chatterly about them, and he is told to plant a bug at their house so that they can gather information on the two cop killers. However, moments after doing this, he is suddenly told by Williams that their next burglary is taking place straight away, which Leo is forced to help with. They later arrive at the targeted house, which is seemingly empty as they prepare to case the place. However, the person who lives in the house soon shows up, and Williams tries to shoot him, but Leo tackles the man in order to rescue him, forcing the three to flee without taking anything ruining the chance for Leo to take down Williams and Weasel for breaking and entering. Williams and Wealso also break off communication with him as Leo’s balaclava was taken off by the man when he rescued him, causing them to falsely suspect that Leo’s now a wanted man. At the same time, Harris discovers that Rene is threatening to go to the media about Nicholls’ death at the influence of her lawyer, and that Church lied to Rene by claiming that he was the one who shot Nicholls, not Leo. Harris orders Leo to visit her sister and tell her the truth, which he gets as far to admit to her that he killed Nicholls in self-defence before she kicks him out without letting him explain further. Leo later discovers that the second cop that Williams and Weasel had shot had just died, and they plan meet someone before they flee town, which prompts Harris to put Leo back into the investigation, to confront them at the pub, under the false pretence that the cops are after him over the botched burglary, and he tells Williams and Weasel that he needs their help in getting money to flee town, but Williams refuses. Leo then threatens to out Williams and Weasel to the police about the two officers they shot if they don’t pay him in 24 hours, leaving Angie and Church, who are in the surveillance van listening on Leo’s wire, completely bewildered that he’s potentially made himself a murder target of the two cop-killers. Despite this, Leo later receives a call from Williams the following day offering to help, agreeing to meet at the pub once again. Leo waits there for hours along with the unit, expecting to finally take down Williams and Weasel for the cop-killings. However, they never show up, leading Leo and the unit to suspect that they left town, and Leo decides to visit Rene again at her house, where he finally explains in full that he killed Nicholls in self-defence when he tried to kill Leo after Nicholls was exposed as corrupt. Rene still doesn’t believe Leo, but their conversation is interrupted by Williams and Weasel, who had tailed Leo from the pub and holds him and Rene at gunpoint. Leo tries to plead for Rene’s life since she’s pregnant, which causes Weasel to have some doubts about killing Leo and Rene, even more so when Rene mentions that Leo’s a cop, but Williams still prepares to kill Leo when they are interrupted after they hear a knock from the front door of Rene’s house, prompting Williams to go and check, allowing Leo to disarm Weasel, whose gun lands near Rene, who kills Williams to in order to rescue Leo when Williams tries to kill him. Church then shows up and helps Leo arrest Weasel for the murders of the two police officers, before Leo checks up on Rene, who is in shock. Leo later visits Rene in hospital, and they soon make amends as Rene realizes from her own reflex shooting of Williams that Leo was telling the truth about Nicholls death. Leo later expresses his gratitude towards Church for showing up to help.
