Chloe Lynch (born 6/6/1994; codenamed Karma) is a supporting character in the 2012 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops II, and can be a playable character depending on the player's choices.
She was voiced and motion captured by Erin Cahill, who also played Jen Scotts in Power Rangers Time Force and Lena Gilbert in Sleepy Hollow, and voiced Rebecca Chambers in Resident Evil: Vendetta.
Biography
Chloe Lynch was born in Chicago, Illinois. She later earned a degree in robotics at MIT. At some point, she won the TED Prize "One Wish To Change The World", and was a guest speaker at a TED conference. She later became an employee of the Tacitus Corporation. At some time, Chloe got a tattoo on her neck that resembled the word "Karma" on Chinese, and was later known by the nickname. By 2025, Chloe resigned from the Tacitus Corporation, and became a target for Cordis Die's leader, Raul Menendez. Before leaving the corporation, she created a Celerium worm that could decrypt anything
She is mentioned in "Fallen Angel", where Section, Harper, Salazar, and Crosby go to Pakistan to investigate Menendez on 29th May, 2025. When watching him, Menendez talks to his second-in-command, DeFalco, and they talk about "Karma", and how he will handle it himself.
In June, a few days after her birthday, Chloe goes to Colossus, a giant resort to enjoy herself at Club Solar. On 12th June, Section and his team go to Colossus' Central Records Computer to find "Karma". Unbeknownst to them, Harper bumps into her when Section and Salazar separate from him in an elevator, and she rejects him after he hits on her. Section and Salazar go to the computer, and learn that "Karma" is a woman named Chloe Lynch, and go after her to stop DeFalco from getting to her first.
Harper meets up with Chloe in the club after being notified by Section, and tells her that Raul Menendez's group is coming for her, and meets Section. DeFalco comes to the club and starts taking hostages and shooting civilians, and tells Chloe to come forward to save innocent lives.
Chloe does so after breaking free from Harper, and is taken hostage as DeFalco orders his mercenaries to open fire. Chloe is taken away while DeFalco detonates explosives over Colossus, and Section and his team go after her.
If DeFalco gets away with Chloe, then the team fail to rescue her, and she is taken captive to Yemen, but she can be rescued in the strike force mission "Second Chance" if this is the case. If Section confronts and kills DeFalco before he can escape, Chloe will go with Section's team to the USS Obama and join the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).
If Chloe was rescued from Colossus or Socotra, then on the ship, Chloe works on decrypting Menendez's network, and decodes it for the team, telling them that Quantum doesn't crack easily. The team realize that Menendez will attack on Juneteenth, and Section informs Admiral Briggs of the trap. If Chloe is not rescued, the CIA Nerd will take her place, but will fail to stop the cyberattack.
Section and his team capture Menendez, but with the cost of either Harper of Farid's life (depending on player's choice), and is taken to the Obama. After Menendez breaks free after being interrogated by Section, and Menendez's forces attacking the ship, Chloe stays with Admiral Briggs - and determinantly Farid - at the hull.
Menendez and DeFalco (or a random Merc if he's dead) head to the bridge and confront Admiral Briggs, who was rebooting the system. Menendez and his ally take Briggs and his tech expert hostage. Salazar then shows his true allegiances by fatally shooting the remaining two sailors in the room.
The outcome of the stand-off can played out in six different ways, depending whether Harper or Farid had died in the previous mission, and depending on Chloe's fate (saved from DeFalco by Section, rescued later by SEALs, or not rescued at all).
- Farid dead / Chloe captured: Nothing else will happen.
- Farid dead / Chloe saved by SEALs: DeFalco slices Chloe's throat.
- Farid dead / Chloe saved by Section: Salazar then shoots Chloe in the head.
- Farid alive / Chloe captured: DeFalco and Farid fatally shoot each other at the same time.
- Farid alive / Chloe saved by SEALs: DeFalco pistol-whips Chloe, knocking her out. Farid then shoots DeFalco in the head, but Salazar shoots Farid in the back of the head.
- Farid alive / Chloe saved by Section: Salazar shoots Chloe to kill her, but Farid dies jumps in front of her, taking the bullet. Chloe goes to tackle Salazar, but he pistol-whips her, knocking her out.
Regardless of whether Chloe is dead, knocked out, or captive on Socotra, Menendez uses his Celerium chip to hack into the United States' network, controlling the drone fleet. If she survived the event, Chloe will trace the source that was controlling the fleet, and if all the Strike Force missions are completed, Chinese forces will aid the navy and stop Menendez's forces from destroying the USS Obama. Section will succeed in either killing or capturing Menendez in Haiti, stopping him and ceasing attacks from Cordis Die.
Concluding the game's best outcome, Karma manages to find the Celerium worm attacking the power grids all over the world and disable the attacks, also preventing Menendez from being able to escape from his prison cell (after being spared and captured by Section). She will be interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel (even if Section killed Menendez), and taunts Menendez on television, as she knows that he is watching.
Appearance
Chloe is a mostly average-looking woman, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She has a slender figure - being 5'2" (1.57 m), and weighing 95 lbs (43 kg). Although, she has the sides of her head shaved and a few piercings. Other than that, she looks like an average spinster in her thirties. She has three outfits. In "Karma", she wears a black leather jacket over a purple crop-top, with dark grey jeans and black shoes - she later wears this outfit on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. In "Second Chance", she wears a dark red sleeveless hoodie over a white t-shirt, with black cargo pants and tan boots. In "Odysseus", she wears a grey vest over a yellow t-shirt, with grey cargo pants and dark boots.

Trivia
- She was born exactly fifty years after D-Day.
- She has a tattoo on her neck that reads "Karma" in Chinese.
- She is seen dancing with DeFalco at the Avenged Sevenfold concert after the credits roll.
- Her name is displayed as 'Karma' in "Karma", but as 'Chloe' in "Second Chance" and "Odysseus".
- If Harper is saved in "Achilles' Veil" instead of Farid, then Chloe and Salazar will both die, regardless of other choices made.
- As a developer oversight in "Karma", when Section sees Chloe being kidnapped on a security cam, she's in her SEAL outfit (from "Odysseus") instead of her club clothes.
- To get the best ending, players must: kill DeFalco in "Karma" (or rescue Chloe in "Second Chance"), do all Strike Force missions to save the Obama, kill Harper in "Achilles' Veil", spare Briggs in "Odysseus", and spare Menendez in "Judgement Day".
- She is the first playable female in Call of Duty, during "Second Chance". Despite this, she still uses male in-game grunts.
- Misty Briarton is also the first playable Call of Duty female, in the non-canon Zombies mode.
