Oh yeah, going all the way back there, that was The Ballad of Chapped Lips Calhoun by the late Sideways Hank O'Mally and the Alabama Bottle Boys. And you know, it was so good, I reckon I'll play it again!
— Fergus Buckner at the end of the song.

Fergus Buckner is a character appearing as the host of The Fergus Buckner Show FM in Grand Theft Auto.

History

Background

Buckner hosts The Fergus Buckner Show FM, a radio station that consists solely of the song "The Ballad Of Chapped Lips Calhoun" by Sideways Hank O'Mally and the Alabama Bottle Boys. After the song ends, DJ Fergus Buckner announces he likes the song so much, he's going to play it again, and the cycle repeats.

He was voiced by Tom Wilson from DMA Design's studio in Boulder, Colorado.

Trivia

References

  1. It also features myself standing in as DJ Fergus Buckner at the end. We'd only ever intended to record one track for the country channel and so I'd devised the "I think that was so good, I reckon I'll play it again!" narrative device even before the track was recorded, but Tom Wilson from DMA's studio in Boulder, Colorado eventually recorded the much, MUCH better version that we used in the final version. Thanks for that Tom!
