Virgin Records Ltd. was a British record label owned by Universal Music Group that released Gorillaz' music in the US from 2000 to 2011.

History

Virgin Records was founded by entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Simon Draper, Nik Powel, and musician Tom Newman in 1972. It grew to be a worldwide phenomenon over time, with the success of platinum performers such as Aaliyah, George Michael, Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, Roy Orbison, Devo, Tangerine Dream, Genesis, Keith Richards, the Human League, Culture Club, Simple Minds, Lenny Kravitz, dc Talk, the Smashing Pumpkins, Mike Oldfield, Gorillaz and Spice Girls, among others.

Role in Gorillaz

Virgin Records Ltd. released the Tomorrow Comes Today EP in the US along with Parlophone. Virgin also released the Gorillaz albums Gorillaz, G-Sides, Demon Days, D-Sides, Plastic Beach, The Fall. Since the release of the band's fifth studio album Humanz in 2017, Warner Records has been releasing Gorillaz music in the US.
