Lahamu is a minor deity of Mesopotamian mythology who is a daughter of Abzu and Tiamat before becoming the sister-wife of her brother and male counterpart, Lahmu. Like her mythological counterpart, MonsterVerse Lahamu is Tiamat's daughter.
Design
Appearance
Lahamu greatly resembles Tiamat, albeit significantly smaller and with a shorter head-to-body ratio, with blue and silver scales. Her head has a relatively short snout while her mouth conceals several petal-shaped tongues arranged into rows. She has pitch black eyes and several barbels, along with spiny extensions around her nostrils, upper eye arch, and toward her gill slit. She possesses a single pair of clawed crocodilian forelimbs on the lower half of her upper body. As opposed to her mother's serrated fins, Lahamu's fins are wavy and have an iridescent hue. A set of fin rows run down her back toward the tail, while a set of pectoral fins run off the sides of her skull, and finally elongated fin appendages that stretch out from the front of her jaw, abdomen, and rear. Her fins also emit a faint blue bioluminescent glow.
Roar
Lahamu produces a warbling cry resembling that of Tiamat, though somewhat higher in pitch and tone.
Personality
Lahamu, like her mother, appears to be an aggressive and persistent Titan, as she was intent on destroying her holding tank so she can escape into the open ocean and reunite with her mother. When reunited with Tiamat, Lahamu became docile and departed the ruins of the facility in peace and out towards the open ocean with her mother.
Origins
An unknown superspecies specimen in an early stage of development, Lahamu bears a striking resemblance to Titanus Tiamat. Unverified accounts suggest that the creature exhibits a natural proficiency in camouflage, bordering on near invisibility. Its origin and relation to Tiamat remains unknown and further research should be Monarch's top priority.
― Monarch Creature Profile
Lahamu is a juvenile creature born from the Titan Tiamat; due to the lack of information Monarch possesses about her and Tiamat's species, the time at which Lahamu was born or how she was conceived is unclear. As Lahamu is still in a neonatal state, it has yet to be determined how long it will take for Lahamu reach maturity. While sharing the physiology of Tiamat, a trait that is apparently unique to Lahamu is her ability to camouflage with her surroundings.
Around 2024, she was captured as a subject for an experimental collaboration between Stacy Martin and Alan Jonah in a secret underwater facility in the eastern United States. As she contained the same genes as Tiamat, Jonah's scientists kept her in captivity, where they experimented on her with injections to test her abilities and introduce biological modifications. Lahamu's immune system initially rejected them, and the experiments only caused Lahamu's hostility to increase under the conditions. Although the extent of these modifications are not clarified, once Lahamu's body responded to the modifications, her tissue was set to be harvested for further investigation.
Lahamu first appears inside a holding tank when David Martin infiltrates Alan Jonah's facility, and is briefly noticed by Lahamu. During this, Lahamu attempts to escape the facility in order to reunite with her mother, Tiamat. Lahamu eventually breaks free, causing the facility to begin flooding and forcing Jonah and his men to flee. She is later seen swimming alongside Tiamat as they head to the open ocean.
