Sirenjaw

Sirenjaws, also known as Gigantus Crocodiliad, are a giant reptilian superspecies in the MonsterVerse created by Legendary Pictures that first appeared in the graphic novel Skull Island: The Birth of Kong.

Name

Sirenjaws are most likely named after the Sirens from Greek mythology, creatures that would lure sailors to their deaths through music and singing. The Sirenjaw is similar in method based on how it tricks prey into thinking its back is an island to step on before ambushing them.

Design

Appearance

Sirenjaws are massive crocodilian creatures with small orange eyes, four clawed and webbed limbs, long tails, and large jaws filled with razor-sharp teeth. Most notably, the back of the monsters are covered in deciduous trees and rocks, which gives the Sirenjaws the appearance of an island when submerged in water. The parts of a Sirenjaw that aren't covered in plant growth reveal that the creatures have thick, crocodilian skin covered in osteoderms.

Roar

The roar of the Sirejaw is written as "Kuraahh" in the comic.

Personality

Sirenjaws are omnivores and ambush predators that lie in wait for any potential prey to land on its island-like back, in which the creature will then attack and devour it. As Sirenjaws age, they are less inclined to interact with others of their species and gradually become solitary. As they grow larger, Sirenjaws will begin to prey on creatures like Mire Squids, though the giant megalopods sometimes prevail in these encounters.[1]

Origins

The Sirenjaw is a colossal crocodilian predator indigenous to the lakes and tributaries of the southern jungle. Its hybrid physiology exhibits some of the most extreme examples of florafauna yet seen.

As it matures, the Sirenjaw goes through a pubescent stage in which a small nursery of deciduous trees grows across its rocky back, making it an integrated biological chapter of the jungle region in which it has thrived.
True to its name, the exotic plantlife and rock-like structures growing above the creature's submerged body prove too alluring to resist for the unsuspecting prey of the Siren.

Any living thing that strays upon this "shore" is fated to discover that some islands have teeth.

History

Skull Island: The Birth of Kong

Aaron Brooks and his group unintentionally set foot on a Sirenjaw mistaking it for an island. The beast attacked the group but was scared off when it heard Kong's roar. The Sirenjaw is eventually killed by Kong, and its carcass attracted Psychovultures and Death Jackals to feast on it.

Godzilla vs. Kong - The Official Movie Novelization

Skull Island floods as a result of one of Ghidorah's remnant storms combining with the island's own storm system. As the Iwi tribe attempts to flee, the family of the young Iwi, Jia, were devoured by a Sirenjaw when they attempted to find shelter.

Godzilla x Kong: Titan Chasers

Sirenjaws are among the numerous superspecies encountered on the Siren Isles.

Abilities

Amphibious nature

As vaguely crocodilian creatures, Sirenjaws thrive in water. They will lie still in bodies of water in order to mimic an island, thus attracting prey.

Camouflage

The Sirenjaw's plant-like body allows it to blend in with its environment, allowing unsuspecting prey to head straight for their jaws.

Strength and combat

Sirenjaws use their jaws and claws to battle other creatures, and they are more than powerful enough to kill humans with one bite.
