Sex Swing

Sex Swing is a parody band and series created by Funhaus.

Background

In Open Haus 9, a viewer asked the crew to create a parody 80's rock band and the crew obliged. [1] Two shorts were then published, both sponsored by Rock Band 4: SEX SWING SUCKS - Funhaus Shorts and SEX SWING LIVES - Funhaus Shorts. The band plays Rock Band rather than actual instruments.

Funhaus would upload a teaser trailer on February 13, 2017. On the day of the show's release, February 18, 2017, Rooster Teeth would upload Sex Swing: Beyond the Band | Rooster Teeth and Funhaus would upload Sex Swing is a CARTOON?. On May 5, 2017, Evan Bergman would post an article to Rooster Teeth's webpage talking about how the companies evaluates a show's performance, which would also contain confirmation that Sex Swing would not be renewed for a second season in part due to low viewership.[2]

In-Universe Lore

Jamez the Ripher would reveal that that Sex Swing was created in around 2007, or 2008.[3] Spunkie and Jamez would reveal that the release of Rock Band 4 was the catalyst for the band getting back together. Max would reveal that much of their fame came from public exposure and playing a ton of Weezer songs.[4] Unsurprisingly, Sex Swing did not get very many opportunities on this revival tour since they did not play real instruments. Jamez would call this prejudice.[5]

Plot

Episode 1

Max Kochram announces that he got a gig for the band in Space County, New Mexico which turns out to be at a bar known as Striking Gold, which happens to also be a bowling alley and built on top of a gold mine. The bar's owner, Marshall, is a quirky fellow who enjoys Sex Swing's performance but the conversation is interrupted by four ruffians who want to know how to get to the gold mine located below. Spunkie Bruester suggests a series of challenges to determine if the ruffians figure out if they get to know the location of the mine or if they have to leave. Tommy Steale wins his drinking challenge, Jamez the Ripher wins his love machine challenge (as well as the love of the female ruffian), and Spunkie wins his marksmanship competition via singing. Unfortunately, Tha Schling loses his chess bout with the lead ruffian who immediately demands the mine's location. The day is saved by patrons accidentally killing the lead ruffian with a bowling ball. Sex Swing is rewarded for their efforts with a gold bar which turns out to be worthless since it's a gold plated brick.
