Demo Disk is a series which explores the wonderful world of video game demo discs distributed by video game magazines, PC magazines, and video game companies, from the 1990s to the early 2010s.
History
The show began a few weeks after the inception of the new Funhaus channel, when a fan provided the crew with a binder of old PC demos.[2] After running out of the discs from the original binder,[3] the show continued with fans sending in more discs.
Format
Adam would attempt to download and play games found on a demo disc. This would give some time for the group to play flash games as they download and to crack jokes for a bit. Oftentimes, the games would not work and so they would move onto the next game or disc.
Common tropes
- The gang make jokes about Adam's disc drive being an external Memorex disc drive.
- Adam stalls for time by searching and playing browser based flash games and or just simply browsing porn.
- Lawrence pipes in some two-cents about the game demo they're attempting to play.
- Bruce never leaves a disk unbroken.
- Jon comes to break a disk in some wacky way.
- Adam ‘rebounds’ a disk off of random objects before landing in the Xbox 360 disk tray; James and Bruce always seem surprised.
Songs
- Bruce attempts a theme song for Demo Disk eventually resorting to the use of copyright materials.
- There was also a saga where Bruce would change the lyrics of preexisting songs to create Demo Disk Songs, which lasted from episode 38 to 44, with Bruce stating in the 45th episode that people were complaining about the songs and skipping them so he would stop doing them.
