EP1

Note: This article contains content from Wikipedia.

EP1 is the debut extended play by English singer-songwriter, dancer, and actress FKA twigs. It was independently released by Twigs on 4 December 2012 through vinyl format and on her Bandcamp page.[1] The EP was re-released under her record label Young in Japan packaged with her debut studio album LP1 and as a standalone product in October of 2016.

On 16 December 2016, EP1 officially became available to stream and buy on all music services.[1][2][3] It had also been repressed on 12-inch vinyl and re-released by Young the same day. The vinyl re-issue originally went unavailable on Amazon within less than a month, later coming back in stock on 19 February 2017.

EP1 debuted and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart and charted for only one week.[4]

Background

FKA twigs, then simply known as Twigs,[5] first worked as a backup dancer and appeared in numerous music videos for artists such as Kylie Minogue, Ed Sheeran, Plan B, and Dionne Bromfield among others.[6] She most notably was a backup dancer for Jessie J in her 2010 music video for "Do It Like a Dude" and she appeared again in her 2011 music video for "Price Tag".[7]

Twigs also made an appearance in Dionne Bromfield's music video for her 2011 song "Yeah Right". When Twigs was 18 years old, she began working with local record producers to try to find her own musical sound. Around this time, she wrote the song "I'm Your Doll" and ended up producing a lot of what she considers to be "really bad demos".[8] In 2012, Twigs was photographed for and featured on the pre-fall cover of i-D Magazine.

Promotion

Twigs released a music video for the song "Hide" on 10 July 2012. The song's video serves as the first music video officially released from EP1. Less than a month later, Twigs released a music video for the song "Ache" on 8 August 2012.[9] In December, she also released individual music videos for "Weak Spot" and "Breathe".
