Proctor Ingram, registration IG-444PR, is an officer of the East Coast Brotherhood of Steel and member of the Commonwealth expedition in 2287, where she serves as head of engineering while leading the Order of the Shield responsible for the maintenance of the Prydwen and conducting high-level projects for Elder Maxson. She appears in Fallout 4.
Background
In her past as a member of the Capital Wasteland chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel, Ingram was a scribe operating at a cliffside staging area for their power armor troops during the Brotherhood's conflict with the region's super mutant clans. She was on-site when it received a direct hit from a mini nuke, causing the cliff to shear right off and with it the platform she was standing on. Ingram's saving grace was that she had been test-piloting one of the suits moments before the attack, however, the hundred-foot drop ended up wrecking the armor and in the process destroying Ingram's legs beyond the Brotherhood's ability to repair.[1]
However, Ingram refused to just give up. As a talented engineer and programmer,[2] she pushed through the limitations of her disability and continued to work for the Brotherhood, eventually achieving one of the highest honors for a Scribe by attaining the rank of Proctor and a posting as head of the engineering team, the Order of the Shield, assigned to the Brotherhood's airship, the Prydwen. In her capacity as Proctor, it was Ingram's team that salvaged the pre-War fusion plant from a derelict aircraft carrier and installed it within the Prydwen to enhance its long-range travel capabilities and facilitate a faster arrival to the Commonwealth during their expedition.[3] Despite her accomplishments as an engineer, Ingram's biggest desire remained to return to the field and fight among the knights and soldiers of the Brotherhood.
Over a period of six months in cooperation with Knight-Captain Cade, Ingram designed a custom-made power armor frame that would simulate an approximation of full mobility for her, with the Proctor undergoing rigorous physical therapy and training in it to a degree that surpasses the abilities of other soldiers,[4] but despite her progress, it was her skill as an engineer that was her ironic undoing. Due to her valuable contributions as the head engineer and a crucial member of the Order of the Shield, Elder Maxson simply could not afford to clear her for field service and risk losing her to the Brotherhood's enemies, considering it to be a bigger blow to the organization than losing a whole combat unit.[5] Apart from that, the Elder also had another reason to keep Ingram grounded - her skills and experience were the crux of a top-secret project the Brotherhood was undertaking that could serve to win the war against the Institute and their synth army.[6] So important was this mandate, in fact, that when Ingram later disobeyed the Elder and assisted a field team making an incursion at the Mass Fusion Building, Maxson held back from hauling her in for court martial and left her with a punishment of a strongly-worded letter instead.[7][8]
On a personal level, Ingram maintains close friendship with both Cade and her fellow Proctor Teagan. Cade is constantly looking for excuses to make her come into his infirmary,[9] while Teagan often tries to cheer her up by digging up goods that she has a weakness for, like sweets to be shared in the comfort of his cabin.[10]

Notes
- If the Prydwen is destroyed during the Railroad faction quest, Rockets' Red Glare, Ingram's body will appear at the front of the airport wreckage, even if she was directly killed aboard the airship. This is likely due to her possessing the network scanner which is required for gaining entry into the Institute if one decides instead to side with the Minutemen.
- Despite her fusion core being clearly visible, it will not turn up in her inventory upon pickpocketing, no matter the perk rank. Similarly, one can target her core in V.A.T.S. and damage it with attacks, but it cannot be destroyed like that of other power armored characters. This is to prevent the possibility of her stepping out of the armor, which would be impossible without her legs.
- The setrace or callfunction "actor.switchtopowerarmor" none commands can be used to get her out of her suit of power armor. She will walk around and execute several idle and conversation animations that are impossible to see when an NPC is in power armor. This does make it impossible for her to board the vertibird to start Spoils of War. To fix this, one must use the recycleactor command to get her back in her armor.
- Removing Ingram's power armor with the command unequipitem reveals a disproportionate character model, prominently in the legs and hands.
- Ingram is equipped with an undroppable companion-type laser weapon that uses companion fusion cells (similar to Danse), possibly suggesting she was intended to serve as a companion at some point during development.

- ↑ The Sole Survivor: "Would it help if I promised not to tell anyone else?"
Ingram: "Okay, okay... if it'll get you off my back about it. I was fighting with the Brotherhood in the Capital Wasteland. Worked at a staging area for the Power Armor troops. Our position was along a ridgeline overlooking the battlefield. I'd say it was a hundred foot drop, give or take."
The Sole Survivor: "Who were you fighting?"
Ingram: "Super Mutants. The damn things had wrangled a couple of behemoths and were marching on our main base of operations. To make a long story short, the ridge I was standing on took a hit from a nuke. Sheered most of the cliff right off and caused the platform I was standing on to tumble over the side. If I hadn't have been test-piloting one of the Power Armor suits at the time, I would have died."
The Sole Survivor: "Your Power Armor helped you survive the fall?"
Ingram: "Yeah, it took the brunt of the impact... but I don't know if I'd call it "surviving." The suit was trashed after it landed, and I lost both of my legs. Haven't walked since."
