Sakamoto Zin (坂本陣), better known by the stage name Zin (陣), is a Japanese performer and actor. He is one of the leaders of THE RAMPAGE from EXILE TRIBE.
He participated in the EXILE PERFORMER BATTLE AUDITION, but did not make it to the finals.
Early Life
Sakamoto Zin was born on April 28, 1994, in Osaka, Japan. He has one older brother and one younger brother.[1]
Sakomoto started dancing in elementary school due to the influence of his mother.[2] His passion was reinforced after he was impressed by "OKAXILE".[3] In his first year of junior high school, he started attending EXPG Osaka. After five to six years, he was promoted to a scholarship student. However, he felt inferior to the other scholarship students as he was not selected to become a back dancer for LDH artists."[...] I was always on edge, thinking, 'If I don't practice, I will be overtaken soon'. When I joined the group, Nakatsuka Yuta was a special student and was also a back dancer for GENERATIONS, while it took me five or six years to become a special student and I was not selected as a back dancer, so I felt there was a difference.[1]
Career
2014
In early 2014, he participated in the EXILE PERFORMER BATTLE AUDITION but didn't make it to the finals.[4]
In April of the same year, he became a candidate for EXILE TRIBE's upcoming group THE RAMPAGE.[5] At that time, he was encouraged by the words of HIRO despite not realizing his dream of becoming a member of EXILE: "[...] He told me that finding a role would be a necessary point as an artist."[1] After completing THE RAMPAGE's first Musha Shugyo, Sakamoto was announced as an official member on September 12, 2014.[6][7]
On the November 18 broadcast of Shuukan EXILE, it was revealed that he had been appointed as the leader of the group together with LIKIYA.
2017
On January 25, he made his major debut in THE RAMPAGE with the single "Lightning".
2021
In July, he started his first digital serialization titled "THE RAMPAGE Zin no Million Color"" on the entertainment-related website Talent Power Ranking, in which he talks with people who are active in various fields and grows as an entertainer himself.[8][9]
2022
In 2022, he joined the HiGH&LOW franchise as "Fujin" in the movie HiGH&LOW THE WORST X, for which he passed an internal audition within LDH JAPAN.[10]
2023
In March, Zin starred in the one-man stage play Slip Skid at Kinkero Theater in Tokyo.[11]
Personal Life
- Family
His grandfather is from Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan.[12] His younger brother, Sakamoto Riku, was an EXPG Osaka student too.[1]

- According to Yoshino Hokuto, he is always looking out for everyone's interests, and the group would lack cohesion without him. Even though he would usually joke around and be goofy, he would be like a mother to them when he does something or says something.[30][31]
- Described as a good talker, mood-maker and hard worker. His members appreciate his cheerfulness, responsibility and communication skills.[6] Additionally, he is also described as compassionate, tearful and a bit clumsy. Because of his friendliness, he is often teased even by the younger members.[6]
- Usually takes the lead when it comes to interviews (e.g. for magazines) and has a natural talent for hosting live performances and events.[6]
- According to himself, he is is very adaptable and can blend into any place.[32]
- According to Nakajima Sota, who is a close friend of him, he is very kind and stoic. "He's very good at not letting the younger members worry about him. He is also very stoic about himself when it comes to dancing. In the group, he doesn't work because he is given the role of leader, but because he genuinely wants to make THE RAMPAGE better."[33][34]
- According to Fujiwara Itsuki, he has connections with various people at LDH, including the higher-ups and people outside the company, and he connects the members of THE RAMPAGE with them.[35]
- Didn't like his smile very much for a long time, but after he joined THE RAMPAGE, people started to tell him that he has a nice smile, which changed his view.[32]
- Has a very close friendship with Nakatsuka Yuta. In an interview in 2022, he revealed that they have been friends for more than 10 years and that he considers Nakatsuka more of a big brother or a mentor than a senior artist.[34]

- Despite Popping being his specialty, he did not start training the style until a year or two after he joined THE RAMPAGE.[6][36]
- Has a cat named "Luky" (ラキ). It is a sibling of Yonamine Rui's cat "Rikey".[37]
- On his days off, he enjoys doing things that he usually refrains from or would normally feel too guilty to do, such as going on expensive shopping trips and eating lots of high-calorie foods, and resets his mind to work hard again the next day.[38]
