Illusionist

Illusionist is a class in the Magic DPS class branch.

Illusionists may seem friendly, but be wary. As masters of deception, the illusionist class is highly skilled at distraction and enchantment. If their outlandish jester hats and checkered outfits aren't disorienting enough to the enemy, the illusionist can cast several hypnotizing spells and summon an arcane pet to help in battle. Illusionists can also restore mana to party members.

Skills

Class skills

The Illusionist, like the Magician, has many buffs as well as offensive moves. Unlike the Magician however, all of an Illusionist's skills are designed for more damage output; even their buffs are centered around gaining more MP or damage and ATK SPD to cast more spells and hit harder, rather than for survival.

Mind Control 25 None 2 sec. 30 sec. Charms a target below Lv X for 30 seconds, redirecting it to attack the caster's enemies. Also reduces received M-DMG -50%. No effect on boss monsters.
Hypnotic Eye 30 None 2 sec. 0 sec. Hypnotizes all enemies in a 20-foot target area, making them sleep for 12 seconds. Increases the next damage they receive +X points.

Gameplay commentary

Weapons

Illusionists typically use Grimoires. Like Magicians, none of the Illusionist's skills require you to use a Grimoire, so you are free to use whatever weapon you like. However, it is more effective to use a Grimoire due to the innate class trait increasing your attack by 30% when using a Grimoire.

Offensive soloing

Illusionists have an easy time in Solo quest and monsters. Once your Mecha Jinn becomes strong enough, you can simply send it into battle and cast Deadly Icicle a few times. Along with a high critical chance, it's a fearsome combo that can kill enemies your level in just two hits.

Buffing in parties

Illusionists can use the Stimulation skill to boost the team's ATK SPD and Cast SPD. With their Mind Surge skill, Illusionists can also support their team by restoring allies' Mana Points.

When playing as Illusionist in a party, you may be expected to sacrifice damage output in favor of becoming a MP-replenishing machine. Some parties only take on Illusionists for this sole purpose.

Trivia

  • Illusionist, along with Hunter, Shaman, and Warlock, are the only classes that can summon class-specific pets.
  • Illusionists may also be referred to as Jesters.
  • The clovers/clubs on an Illusionist's outfit represent happiness.
