Bread

The Bread is one of the first food items introduced in EarthBound Beginnings. It is found in Ninten's basement, replacing the Map from the original famicon Mother. It is also found in the City Zoo Superintendent's Office (Second Floor, Second Room), in Duncan's Factory, and in Rosemary's House. It can be bought in all department stores (fourth floors of Podunk, Merrysville, and Reindeer; third floor of Ellay) and drugstores (Snowman and Youngtown) throughout the game. It costs $30, selling for $15. It heals 20 HP upon pressing "EAT". If "USE" is instead pressed, it will convert into Crumbs.

Trivia

• Spookane is the only town that doesn't sell bread.
• The bread is the only item that holds a separate function between "USE" and "EAT".
• In the companion guide, the name for "Bread" is the same in all versions of the game.
  • Its description reads, "They sell this at the Department Store's food shop. By its nature it's a recovery item, with about one-third the effectiveness of a Hamburger. But, in truth, it's much more amazing than that."
