Spookane

Spookane (Halloween in Mother) is a town in EarthBound Beginnings divided by a downtown area (West) and a residential area (East). Upon entrance from the train station, the party finds that enemies walk the streets of the downtown area and that all of its residents are staying outside of their homes which have become haunted. The residential area will not spawn in any enemies and is occupied by most of Spokane’s citizens. However, enemies will spawn once again up the path to the haunted mansion. The fourth melody must be obtained from the Rosemary's House (a key must be obtained from a resident beforehand). Spookane is accessible by train and by PSI Teleport.

While the downtown area of Spookane is largely uninhabited, the hotel south is in operation and being run by a suspicious man with a gray skin tone. After offering a very cheap stay, the hotel operator reveals himself to be a Starman in disguise. Defeating him will make him disappear, rendering the hotel useless.

  • The name Spookane, used in EarthBound Beginnings, is a reference to the real city of Spokane, Washington.
  • Spookane may be Threed's EarthBound Beginnings counterpart as both towns are troubled by supernatural enemies. They are also both usually the fourth town visited.
  • There is an island in the game MySims Kingdom on the Wii that shares its name with this town.
  • Teleporting to this location will put Ninten’s party in the residential area, allowing for them to walk to the haunted mansion faster.
  • This is the only town in the game without a department store or any kind of shop.
  • There is a path south from the downtown area that also takes you to the residential area.
  • You can walk from Reindeer to Spookane without having to go through any train tunnels.
  • There is a path north in the middle (Slightly east of it) of Spookane that leads straight to the Snowman train tunnel.
