The Saiyan Armed Forces or Vegeta Army (ベジータ軍 Bejīta Gun) (named the Saiyan Army only in the Funimation dub and Vegeta Forces in the English sub of Broly) is the Saiyan military force led by the king of Planet Vegeta, King Vegeta. Although King Vegeta was not its ultimate ruler as, during this time, the Saiyan Army appeared to be a branch within the Frieza Force. Frieza eventually destroyed Planet Vegeta, along with nearly the entire Saiyan race.
The army is first mentioned by Nappa when he states that he was its highest ranking and most powerful General.
Overview
Saiyan-Tuffle war

The Saiyans took part in only one known conflict before the Saiyans were annexed by Frieza in roughly Age 731: the Saiyan-Tuffle war, in which they were victorious. After a ten-year long struggle, the Saiyans completely annihilated the Tuffles after a full moon arose, allowing their transformation into Great Apes. With the Tuffle race vanquished, the Saiyans completely colonized the planet, which - in the anime - they renamed Planet Vegeta after their commanding hero and King.
Rule under Frieza and Destruction
In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, it is revealed that the Saiyan Army originally served under King Cold before he retired and handed control of his empire to Frieza. Frieza was quick to demonstrate his power and cruelty when he detected hidden Saiyan snipers during a Scouter demonstration which had been brought to replace the Saiyans' Scout-Scopes. Frieza swiftly executed the snipers demonstrating both the Scouters effectiveness and giving the Saiyans a horrifying display of his incredible might. After the annexation by King Cold in Age 731, the Saiyans were apparently automatically conscripted into his Cold Force, and seemingly all Saiyans physically and mentally capable were automatically drafted in the Saiyan Army, though some low-class warriors like Gine where allowed to retire if they found army life unsuitable.

After King Cold's retirement and Frieza's appointment as leader of the Cold Force which was rechristened as the Frieza Force which the Saiyan Army continue to serve under. The Saiyan Army fought in hundreds of conflicts (if not more) and because of their high success record, were given respect from Frieza. The Saiyan Army forces even include babies, like Goku who was sent to Earth twelve years prior to the beginning of the series to prepare the planet for Frieza's planet trade, but Goku loses sight of this after an accident leaves him permanently amnesiac. However this only applies to Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku as it is revealed in Dragon Ball Minus: The Departure of the Fated Child and Broly, that Bardock and Gine sent Kakarot to Earth in a stolen Attack Ball to ensure his safety as Bardock feared Frieza planned to eliminate the Saiyans based on Frieza's recent order for all Saiyans to return home to Planet Vegeta and the Frieza Force making inquiries into the legend of the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God. Bardock and Gine would have retrieved Kakarot from Earth if Bardock's fears had proven to be unfounded. Bardock selected Earth due to its location and weak population making it a safe place for a low-class warrior like Kakarot to grow up. Gine informed Raditz about sending Kakarot to Earth which he assumed was a standard infiltration baby mission as was common practice among low-class children to be sent to conquer weaker worlds unaware the flight to Earth had not been authorized by the Frieza Force or Saiyan Army.
While most of the known Saiyans have proudly served King Vegeta, Paragus was among the Saiyans who disagree with the king's paranoid ways, namely because of his son, Broly, nearly being executed. Because the Saiyan Army leader's arrogance had Paragus and Broly nearly killed, Paragus plotted to avenge both himself and his son through the Saiyan prince, Vegeta.

At one point, King Vegeta was tasked by the God of Destruction Beerus with finding and obtaining the most comfortable pillow in Universe 7 which the Saiyan Army acquired through a destructive campaign that destroyed several worlds. Though Beerus disliked King Vegeta's methods he was willing to overlook it provided King Vegeta did as instructed though King Vegeta selfishly tried to keep it for himself and gave the second most comfortable pillow to Beerus who unfortunately realized King Vegeta's deception though Beerus ultimately spared King Vegeta, his son, and Planet Vegeta after King Vegeta submitted to Beerus' punishment, though his actions left a bad impression on Beerus who due to King Vegeta's stinginess and the Saiyans evil ways would eventually order Frieza to destroy Planet Vegeta. Prince Vegeta would remember the day Beerus punished his father and effortlessly defeated the young Prince when he bravely defended his father unaware of Beerus' position or power.
As time went on, the fast-growing power of the Saiyans began to frighten Frieza who believed that one day a Saiyan could be strong enough to challenge his might would appear, and thus the final chapter in Saiyan history was written.
In Dragon Ball Minus and Broly, Frieza orders the Saiyans to return to planet Vegeta and has been sending his soldiers to question the Saiyans about the legends of the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan God. After returning home following a mission, Bardock questions Frieza's motives and fears Frieza plans to exterminate them. As a precaution, Bardock convinces Gine to send Kakarot to Earth to save their youngest son by sending him to a faraway planet with weak inhabitants and plans to retrieve him should he be wrong about Frieza. In the confusion following Planet Vegeta's destruction, Raditz remembers Gine telling him about Kakarot being sent to Earth and mistakenly assumes Kakarot was on an official mission to invade Earth, thus the surviving Saiyans and Frieza Force never discover that Kakarot departure to Earth was unauthorized.

In Bardock - The Father of Goku, after Bardock and his band of low-class Saiyans soldiers ended the Kanassan war, something even Frieza's elites were unable to accomplish, the tyrant contemplates the destruction of the race one month later. Soon after Frieza's Spaceship approaches the planet, King Vegeta, along with a squad of his strongest soldiers, stages an invasion of the spaceship, to which Frieza retaliates by killing King Vegeta and his soldiers. Frieza then obliterates Bardock, Planet Vegeta, and the entire Saiyan race along with it by launching a Supernova at the planet.

Ranks
The Saiyan Army employs various ranks based on power levels: the only ranks mentioned in the series are "Elites" and "Low-Class", with the series creator Akira Toriyama confirming in an interview that there are also "Mid-Class" warriors.
Almost all Saiyans are low-class warriors, with Bardock being at the top of the low-class.[1] There are about ten mid-class warriors, with Nappa as the highest ranking general of the army and Raditz of equal rank to him.[2] Paragus (DBS) served as a Lieutenant and as a Colonel during his time as a soldier. Among the elite warriors there are only two: King Vegeta and Prince Vegeta. This rank is determined by an innate latent battle power, but naturally, if their battle power rises greatly afterward, they can be promoted.[1]
Not all Saiyan soldiers are combatants as Beets was an army engineer. Some Saiyan soldiers like Beets and Paragus utilize Ray Gun and some Saiyans are trained as snipers.
Known members

Significant followers of King Vegeta include Zorn, Nappa, Team Bardock, Raditz, and initially Paragus. Malaka and Planthorr are also presiding doctors at a Saiyan hospital. Bardock's wife Gine was also a member of the army as well though she retired from the army and became a meat processor on Planet Vegeta. After the Genocide of the Saiyans, Prince Vegeta became the de facto leader of the remnants of the Saiyan Army which consisted of himself, Nappa, and Raditz. Raditz younger brother Kakarot also survived as he had been sent to Earth, though he suffered amnesia and became the pure hearted Goku, rejecting the evil ways of his people when Raditz came to Earth which resulted in the Saiyan conflict which left Prince Vegeta the only active member of the Saiyan Army. Other survivors appear in the films including Turles a low-class warrior who left the army to form his own group of mercenaries the Turles Crusher Corps. and Paragus who was sentenced to death along with his newborn son Broly by King Vegeta before the Genocide of the Saiyans, though survived thanks to Broly's power and later sought revenge on Prince Vegeta.
In Dragon Ball Super: Broly, King Vegeta exiled Broly to Vampa, Paragus stole Beets' ship and went AWOL in order to find his son only to become stranded due to Paragus crash landing. Paragus kills Beets to preserve the ship's remaining provisions for himself and Broly. It is also revealed in Dragon Ball Minus that Gine and Bardock sent Kakarot to Earth to save him as Bardock suspected Frieza was planning to destroy them, which he does shortly after. In addition to Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta two unnamed adult Saiyan soldiers survive due to invading the same planet with Nappa, Raditz, and Vegeta though they apparently perished at some point before Raditz arrived on Earth in Age 761. Paragus and Broly managed to survive on Vampa for years until Cheelai and Lemo found them after Frieza had been revived.
