The Emir is a character who is featured in the Disney animated series Gargoyles.
Physical appearance
The Emir is a middle-aged Arabic man with black hair streaked with grey and a thin, black mustache. He wears a blue and white robe with bell sleeves, trimmed with gold.
Background
The Emir is a Middle Eastern nobleman (whose real name is not yet known) who was allied to David Xanatos in his plan to obtain immortality by forcing the immortality out of Anubis, assigning him the task to send him to Egypt with the Pack assisting him (only with Jackal, Hyena, Wolf, and Coyote 3.0) during his plan to obtain his immortality. During his encounter with Anubis, the latter refused to bring his son back to life, but used the Scroll of Thoth to make himself an avatar of Anubis only for Jackal to intervene using his powers to destroy life on the planet.
However, with help from Goliath, the Emir realized his folly for what he did earlier using the Scroll, retrieving the avatar from Jackal to himself, undoing all the damage Jackal did under possession by Anubis. Following this, the Emir realized of how his attempt to bring his son back to life was wrong, using the Sphinx where the Emir performed his act as an underground complex.
Role in the series
While initially mentioned in "The Edge" and "Double Jeopardy", the Emir does not physically appear until the episode "Grief". When David Xanatos sent a task to give him immortality, the Emir was assigned to force it out of Anubis' bonds with Jackal, Hyena, Wolf, and Coyote 3.0 assisting him throughout the quest. Seeing that his only son was killed in a car accident, the Emir attempts to ask Anubis to revive his son back to life, but Anubis refused, telling him to understand the meaning of death, denying his answer.
Feeling desparate about this, the Emir used the Scroll of Thoth to send Anubis to make him his own avatar only for Jackal to intervene, causing him to be possessed by Anubis as his avatar. Jackal then uses Anubis' avatar the wrong ways using the powers to destroy life all across Earth. However, with help from Goliath who was negatively effected by Anubis, the Emir realized his folly for what he did earlier using the Scroll, retrieving the avatar from Jackal to the Emir himself, undoing all the damage Jackal did under possession by Anubis. Following this, the Emir realized of how his attempt to bring his son back to life was wrong where the Emir performed his act, using the Sphinx as an underground complex. Following this, it is possible that the Emir died to be reunited with his son with Anubis being released from his bonds.
