The Fishes are characters from the 1946 Disney film, Song of the South and other media inspired by the film itself.
Appearances
Song of the South
A fish could be seen in the "How Do You Do?" sequence, when Br'er Rabbit freed him from being captured from Br'er Frog, and thanked Br'er Rabbit, much to Br'er Frog reacting to Br'er Rabbit heading for trouble.
Disney Parks
Splash Mountain
In Disney World and Tokyo Disneyland's version of Splash Mountain, the fishes can be seen during the "How Do You Do?" and "Everybody's Got a Laughing Place" section of the attraction trying to be caught by the Fishermen Geese, Br'er Frog and Br'er Gator.
Two can be seen in Doo Dah Landing during the "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" sequence where they can be seen popping out of the water when critters are welcoming Br'er Rabbit to his home after escaping from Br'er Fox and Br'er Bear who attempted to capture him but they failed to do so.
As of 2020, the Disneyland version of Splash Mountain has been announced for closure to remove all references to Song of the South in order to retheme it into a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction, due to controversy surrounding Song of the South which the attraction itself is based on. Therefore, it is currently unknown who will replace the fish animatronics in the rethemed version of Splash Mountain in California. The Florida version of Splash Mountain permanently closed on January 23, 2023. The Oriental Land Company, however, has not yet announced plans whether to retheme the Tokyo version of Splash Mountain or not.
