Synopsis
On her way home from the bathhouse, Tarea is interrupted by Eleanora who whisks her away through hypnotization. Inside an empty building, Eleanora and Sercrent interrogate her. They then head to the castle to meet the dhampir. Eleanora is taken by surprise when she discovers that Vandalieu is awake waiting for her, but relaxes once she uses her Charming Demon Eyes. Sercrent enters, only to abandon their original plan, pressuring her to be the one dealing the killing blow to the dhampir. But just as she's about to strike, she is betrayed by her fellow vampires.
Summary
It's winter and Tarea is on her way home from the bathhouse in a fur coat. She reflects on all the new things Vandalieu have created the past few days and rejoices that the ghouls will prosper for a thousand years as long as he's with them. She's also anxious about how to close the distance between them, as she has not been able to spend much time with him ever since they arrived in Talosheim. Because she's not a combatant, she cannot join Vandallieu's unarmed fighting technique training nor his dungeon clearing, and since he can only wear clothes made of leather or fur because of his small body, she didn't even have any opportunities to create equipment for him. He had said that he would stay in Talosheim until Pauvina had grown and until Basdia's pregnancy had safely reached the three-month-mark, before going into another dungeon before spring. But even then she has not been able to spend much time with him. To close the gap in their relationship, she begins contemplating if she should get pregnant like Basdia, preferably with a daughter, but feels conflicted about giving birth to another man's child in front of Vandalieu, who's currently acting like a maternity doctor.
As she passes an alleyway, a pebble rolls in front of her. When she turns to look, she's caught by Eleanora's charming demon eyes and abducted. Tarea says this "person who's received Vida's divine protection" that they're talking about is probably Vandalieu, and reveals that he is currently sleeping in a room in the castle that used to belong to a cabinet minister or general of some sort. Sercrent becomes restless at learning how powerful the dhampir had become, worrying that, even if he completed his mission this time, he would not avoid harsh punishment. Before the charm effect wears off, Eleanora puts Tarea to sleep.

When a subordinate vampire is about to swing his sword at Tarea, he is stopped by Eleanora who says killing her may alert the city of their presence. They may be able to prevent her spirit from warning the dhampir, but they cannot prevent her corpse from turning into an undead anyways. The monsters inhabiting Talosheim seemed too intelligent than to be fooled by a live-dead, and besides they had learnt that Tarea had a prominent position in the community. Furthermore, burning her body would also lead to them being discovered, defeating the purpose of disposing of her in the first place.

The vampires sneak into the royal castle, which was a simple task since there's no guards. They agree that Eleanora will question the dhampir about Borkus on behalf of Gubamon while luring him out, while Sercrent will deal the final blow. She's surprised that Vandalieu is awake, though it's convenient that he'll be charmed immediately, though his behavior makes her a bit unsure if he's really under the effects of Charming Demon Eyes. She begins her questioning, before Secrent enters the room and begins arguing with her.

He taunts her saying she gone soft since she can't kill the dhampir on her own, and eventually she asks Vandalieu to come to her, so she could stab him without breaking eye contact. However, as she looked into his eyes, she sensed something in the emptiness which told her she could not disobey this person. Instinctively, she became unable to move. Finally, Sercrent orders his men to stab them both, but before the sword reached her heart, both she and the dhampir flew onto the bed. She realizes that her demon eyes hadn't had any effect on him, and feels relieved that Vandalieu's anger were not directed at her.
