Aggro (or aggro bonus) is a player parameter governing how quickly (and at what range, and possibly also - to what extent) infected will become aggravated by the mere presence of a particular player (when aggravation triggers, a symbol of two pink spheres appears beside the infected, as figurative eyes or centers in the brain). The importance of this is threefold:

  1. Infected aggravated by a player will yield loot to them if killed, even if not damaged by the player in question.
  2. When a player is attacking a member of an group of infected (regardless of which squads they come from), having more infected aggravated will enhance the chance of that member mutating (mutants are more powerful, but yield much more valuable loot).
  3. Sufficiently aggravated infected will follow and try attacking the player, sometimes breaking into a dash if able, which may help if they're to be led or just made to come up instead of being chased around (or staying out of range when behind a wall).

There are alternative ways to realize these effects: one and two by damaging multiple targets (elemental and area-of-effect weaponry and kits); one, by granting some effects (like Encouragements or healing) to the players doing the killing (or aggravating). It is unknown but suspected that aggravation of infected actually damaged is redundant (but there could be some unobvious loot value effect for instance). The third effect can be augmented by enabling more strategies from the Strategy table or building up the Threat level.


Aggro bonus won't make the infected spare other players, so it's not useful for winkelrieding.
