History

In the 1930s, amid the run-up to the Second World War, as conducted in the Quality Universe, neutral countries included Andorra, Argentina, Cerania, Herma, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Moravia, Portugal, Quanalla, Ruina, San Marino, San Miguel, Slovia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Yadovnia.

In 1940, the oppressed peons of the tiny Central American kingdom of Quanalla rebelled against their tyrannical rulers. Government troops soon drove the ill-equipped rebels into the jungle. A long period of guerrilla warfare ensued. The rebel commander was General Gorzel. One unit of government troops was commanded by Senorita Jean Carolla, daughter of Duke Carolla. A cease-fire was arranged between these two factions, allegedly by an American secret agent, acting without orders or sanction from his own government.

Notes

  • The historical process by which the former Spanish colony of Quanalla became an independent nation in the 1800s, then established a new monarchy in the 1900s, is not well understood by modern historians.
