Central America is the middle region of the Americas, connecting North America and South America.
History
Sometimes considered a subregion of North America, it is technically the narrow, southernmost portion of the North American continent, which connects with South America on the southeast, but it is also considered a region of the Americas in its own right.
Together with central and southern parts of Mexico, it is known as the historical region and cultural area of Mesoamerica,[1][2] and most of Central America is considered to be part of the Mesoamerican biodiversity hotspot.
