G.I. Robot

G.I. Robot is the name of a series of robots created by the U.S. military to fight for the Allies during World War II.

  • The very first G.I. Robot was a prototype nicknamed Joe.
  • The second G.I. Robot was called Mac who was specially designed to participate in far deadlier missions, but was ultimately destroyed in Dinosaur Island.
  • The third and most known G.I. Robot was J.A.K.E. I, which served in the Pacific Theatre before sacrificing its life to save its companion Sgt. Coker.
  • J.A.K.E. I was replaced by its successor J.A.K.E. II, who eventually became a member of the Creature Commandos.

G.I. Robot was created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru, first appearing in Star-Spangled War Stories #101 (1961).
