Jaegers is an umbrella term used to refer to several groups of mercenaries, scrappers and bounty hunters that are naturally immune to the negative effects of the Damned City. They frequently make raids inside the city to not only search for its treasures, but also to deal with the overrunning Fiends that inhabit the place.
Description
The Jaegers are living beings –mainly consisting on humans– that are naturally immune to the negative psychic effects of the Damned City, meaning that they are able to enter it without losing their minds, unlike the rest of the population. Due to this rare ability, many Jaegers hire themselves as scavengers, scrappers, bounty hunters and even mercenaries, who, for the right price, will enter the city and face any Fiends they encounter to loot it of its treasures, which usually consist on artifacts and relics of alien technology, as well as other diverse riches. All members of the Rogue Corps are Jaegers, and thus, they participate in these scavenging practices.
History
Looking to find a cure to the Damned City's psychic effects on humans by replicating the immunity the Jaegers innately had to it, the SwanLabs medical research company sent in a group of scientists leaded by Dr. Claude Banks, who had successfully created a serum that granted this effect and wanted to perform a field test on a greater scale. However, they eventually lost contact with them; and so, Ms. Fiona Swift, CEO of the company, hired the services of the Rogue Corps to look for them.
The Rogue Corps successfully managed to find the doctor, but after coming across some hostile encounters with General Phoenix and his forces, they had to enter the city once again and take refuge in it. Unfortunately, Dr. Banks's serum didn't have the lasting effect he expected, and he too ended up losing his mind.
After many more struggles, the Rogue Corps ultimately managed to shut down the city, and with it, all of its negative effects. While they were praised as heroes for their efforts and somehow managed to keep in business after these events, it is unknown what happened to all the rest of the Jaeger groups, since their immunity abilities weren't required anymore.

Trivia
- While it is never explicitly stated how the Jaegars have formed a natural immunity to the Damned City's mind altering effects, one possible theory could be that many of these soldiers possess a form of PTSD. This can be deduced in several reasons below:
- Kaiser may have gained PTSD following the assassination of the President, an event he witnessed up close. This trauma was worsened by the fact that General Phoenix outright falsely blamed Kaiser and his ally for the President's death, forcing the two fugitives to flee the scene. This development is also shown during a dream Kaiser has to which he wakes up from screaming.
- Ms. Harakiri may have developed a similar PTSD as Kaiser, however it is also possible that the mind altering effects of the Damned City are void to her dues to her possessing an Inner Demon related to the Fiends.
- Hungry Beast likely developed PTSD following the assassination of the President, as (in human form) was locked up by the General and expected to die along with his colleague. However he was save by Gentleman who performed a painful surgery on him.
- Gentleman is perhaps the only character exempt from this possibility. However his natural immunity is likely due to his alien physiology being directly related to the Aliens or Fiends.
