Emotes is a feature in Contra: Rogue Corps.

Description

Despite the name, Emotes used in the game are more of a quick action used to message players during gameplay. By tapping on the D-Pad, a menu will be brought up that allows a player to use an Emote action corresponding to a direction input. Tapping DOWN closes the menu, while tapping on the other three will use the associated Emote:

  • Left = "Good!"
  • Right = "Dance"
  • Up = "Sorry.."

Emotes can be used an infinite number of times. The action can be interrupted by simply moving the Control Stick (moving the player character). Each of the four playable characters has their own set of actions. DLC skins retain the actions of their respective character being played. Emotes will not be available if the Rescue option is present (in co-op games only). Emotes can be used in Single Player mode.

The "Good!" and "Dance" Emotes share the character's three associated voice clips, while "Sorry.." uses its own set of three voice clips from said character. The Bill Rizer and Lance Bean DLC skins for Kaiser are the only two DLC skins to each have their own set of voice clips, having them say emote lines not only different from Kaiser's but also from each other's. For voice clips, see a character's respective page.
