Greed is the 20th case of the first season of the series and is the 20th overall.
Description
The team reopens the 1985 case of a wealthy stock broker. At the time it was deemed that Charles Danville was killed when someone attempted to steal his car, but new evidence suggests that he may, in fact, have been murdered.
Synopsis
Danville ran up tabs all over town. He is known to be charming amongst his fellow businessmen, selling dreams of making it big to the lost boys.
In the past, a man threatens to shoot him after losing out big in investments with him, but Danville convinces him to invest in Neverex, saying it is the next up and coming thing, that he'll make all his money back. He keeps pushing him to invest whatever money he had left.
This investment is revealed to have crashed and burned within two weeks.
In the past, Kip talks to this man, after losing the money from his life insurance. Kip, unaware it was a scam, believes it must be a misunderstanding and promises to get Danville to call him.
In the present, it is revealed this call never came.
They find out Danville liked younger men.
Kip confronts Danville on Neverex just being an old woman with a phone. Danville reveals to Kip that he set up Neverex out of thin air. The lost boys all knew about the sham, except for Kip, whose mother invested in Neverex. She invested $50,000 to help Kip's career.
While shopping for a car, Kip declared his love for Danville.
They find that Kip's Mustang was stripped a couple days before Danville's murder. They bring him in for questioning.
Kip admits that Danville broke up with him. He states he went to his mother's house after.
Valens and Rush go to speak to his mother. In a flashback, she realizes that her son was in a relationship with Danville, in love with him, and that the man slept with both of them. Kip is left unaware of this.
She waits for Danville to leave the bar, where she confronts him before shooting him. She drives off in his Deloreon. She is arrested.
