Poonk is introduced as the mayor of Echo Forest who is found at the town hall. When first meeting the protagonist, Poonk notes they are an outsider, thus warns them not to destroy nature and drive on any flowers. Coming back at anytime, Poonk will note that are still in the area and warn them once more. He seems rather protective of nature.

It is noted, that, after obtaining 30 flags, the protagonist may stop and talk to Poonk to ask him if they could have the legendary engine, Engine +6. He will ask if the protagonist is in need of the engine, and once agreeing, he will provide it to the protagonist. Though, it is noted, that, even with the best engine, running through the race courses efficiently requires a lot of skill and knowledge of the map.

When looking for information about the mushrooms for Calcia, Poonk states that the yellow mushrooms are not safe to eat. He makes sure to drill this into the protagonist mind to never ever eat yellow mushrooms.

During the delivery of Frog Ornaments, FroKero will task the protagonist to deliver Poonk his. After the delivery, Poonk considers the protagonist's efforts to help FroKero as admiral and will also comment that FroKero is a rather skilled Choro-Q in making these Frog Ornaments. If confronted right away, before obtaining 30 Flags, before starting/after completing the Mushroom Identification Quest, Poonk will provide them with a Ship Horn. Revisiting him again, right away, under the same circumstances, he will provide the Elephant Horn.
