Sliding is an action which can be performed by players in Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, Call of Duty: Mobile, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. This allows the player to avoid enemy gunfire and get to cover quickly.
Usage
Sliding is activated by holding the crouch button whilst sprinting. When sliding is activated, the player will hold their weapon diagonally up towards the left and enter a crouch position where they skid across the ground. This mechanic was added to make it harder to Dropshot, however, it can also benefit the player as a means to evade fire or add momentum. The same applies with Diving to Prone.

In Call of Duty: Ghosts, to slide for the full duration, the player must hold the crouch button. If the player slides for too long (running out of stamina), the player will enter a prone position, otherwise the player will finish crouched. Players slide at a relatively decent speed. If the player tries to slide on an uphill area, they will go prone instantly; this applies to when the player quickly reverses the movement position to move backwards while sliding.
In Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the sliding mechanic is further reinforced with the Boost Slide Exo movement, which is available whenever exo suits are equipped. In Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Boost Slides are replaced with Power Slides.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, sliding is identical to Call of Duty: Black Ops III, but due to the lack of thrust packs on the player, the duration of the slide is minimally decreased.
