Rucker

"I got amends to make. Tight aim. No more bursts. No more collateral."
Rucker (from Predator: Life and Death)

Rucker was a Smartgun operator with the United States Colonial Marine Corps. He was part of a 31-Marine platoon under the command of Captain Paget, aboard the combat ship Hasdrubal that landed on the planet LV-797, kick-starting a massive series of events that led to an all out battle for survival against a clan of Yautja, mutated Xenomorphs and the godlike Engineers.

Upon landing on the planet LV-223, Rucker was ambushed and taken to a Xenomorph hive by the creatures where he was subsequently impregnated. He died after a sickly Chestburster erupted from his chest.

Biography

Rucker was part of the combat ship Hasdrubal on a mission to prosecute any potential illegal prospectors on the planet, LV-797, nicknamed Tartarus. The Hasdrubal was serving the interests of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, which had scheduled the planet for terraforming.

Upon landing on the planet, the platoon encountered a Seegson excavation site, soon after recovering asset-stripper Laurence Goode, sole-survivor of a massacre at the hands of unknown assailants. Captain Paget ordered Sergeant Roth's squad to search for any remnants of Goode's crew, and the latter had Rucker, alongside Stefopoulos, Lee and Bonito 'sweep the left'.

Ambushed by the clan

Near the end of the patrol, Stefopoulos reported in to Roth to inform him that nothing was found, but was suddenly impaled from behind by the Hive Wars Predator.

Before Rucker could react, the Predator threw Stefopoulos' lifeless body at him and toppled him, before swiftly killing Bonito and attacking Lee. Rucker recovered himself, and began firing at the hunter, his line of fire accidentally directing into Lee, killing her. Distressed, Rucker contacted Roth and told him that he was under attack.

He managed to wound the Predator, and it retreated into active camo. However, Rucker traced its steps by following the blood from its wound. The hunter emerged and lunged at Rucker, but he opened fire on the hunter, fatally wounding it.

Rucker stood over the Predator, it smiling back at him, before noticing the Elder Cracked Tusk Predator and numerous other hunters surrounding him. Roth and his squad eventually managed to find Rucker, and sent the hunters into a retreat.

Plan to secure the derelict

The whole Marine platoon regrouped at the excavation site. As the Marines formulated a plan to secure the recently discovered Engineer Juggernaut, Rucker was sulking, mourning over the death of Lee. Roth approached him and told him he knew he shot Lee, with Rucker admitting to this. Roth decided to believe Rucker's story of events and forgave him, refraining from telling Paget on the condition that he stay level-headed for the rest of the operation.

Paget decided to send Sergeant Roth and his team consisting of Rucker, Jhalil, Freebody, Singer, Wearing and others into one of their dropships to fly over to the Engineer ship and secure the interior whilst Paget's team approaches the vessel by foot, attempting to sweep the forest using M314 Motion Trackers to flush out the hunters. However, the Cracked Tusk Predator ambushed the dropship and managed to crash it. As the dropship crashed near the quarters of the Engineer vessel, Cracked Tusk grabbed Singer, but Rucker managed to save Singer by shooting at the hunter, sending it into a retreat.

Roth's squad entered the interior of the vessel, and eventually came across the cockpit, containing a sarcophagus-like object. Singer suggested that he would be able to get the ship operational and have the ship leave Tartarus and abandon the Predators. The Cracked Tusk Predator ambushed the squad a second time, but was finally killed by Seegson asset-stripper Captain Humble, by shooting it with a Pulse Rifle after it's Wristblades get stuck by accidentally lunging it into the sarcophagus. Singer managed to get the ship operational and planned to send it to the nearest USCM facility, Ganymede station.

Awakening the Engineer

As Singer was attempting to contact the Hasdrubal, fellow Marine Indelicato inspected the sarcophagus that was previously hit during the fight with the Predator. The sarcophagus opened, and an Engineer emerged from stasis. It was immediately hostile and killed Indelicato, sending Rucker and the others into a retreat. The Marines were forced to hide from the Engineer as it began taking control of the ship and directing it elsewhere.

Landing on LV-223 and Xenomorph ambush

Six days later, the derelict landed on the moon LV-223. The Engineer walked out of the vehicle and the Marines quickly followed once out of sight. During their exploration of the planet, searching for food, water and shelter, Freebody noticed movement with her tracker within a thicket. Rucker slowly approached the thicket with the Marines covering him. He was suddenly grabbed by a Xenomorph and dragged into the thicket, as the rest of the group were ambushed by a horde of the creatures.

Inside the hive and death

Rucker later woke up inside the Xenomorph's hive, and was stuck to the wall. Stricken with panic, he encountered Queen a few feet away from him. He then looked to his right and saw a Facehugger, moments before pouncing onto him.

Sometime later, after Geryon survivor Chris Hanlock was also taken to the hive, she saw Rucker, barely alive, moments before birthing a Chestburster. However, the creature was incredibly deformed and died only a few seconds later. Chris used Rucker's headset to contact the other Marines and deduced that something was wrong with the hive, and that the Xenomorphs may be ill or dying.
