Nick Gillard is an English stunt performer and stunt coordinator who was one of the performers inside the Queen animatronic in the 1986 film Aliens[1] and played a prisoner in the 1992 film Alien3,[2] although he was not credited for these roles. Other notable films Gillard has appeared in include Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), The Three Musketeers (1993) and several films in the James Bond and Star Wars series.
Gillard holds the world record for the longest burning man stunt, a record he set while filming Alien3.[3] The stunt, which takes place during the quinitricetyline explosion, involved him being set alight for over two minutes, during which time he had to refrain from breathing completely. More recently, he has achieved recognition for his role as the fight choreographer behind the lightsaber duels in the Star Wars prequel trilogy,[4] a role that has earned him the nickname "The Swordmaster" among fans of the franchise.[5]

Trivia
- Owing to the relatively small pool of talented stuntmen in Great Britain during the 1980s and early 1990s, Simon Crane, Clive Curtis, Nick Gillard, Mark Anthony Newman, Eddie Powell, Roy Scammell, Trevor Steedman and Tip Tipping often worked together on high-profile action films made in the UK during that time. Many of these films were shot at Pinewood Studios.
