The Nekokami Clan is a group of towers in game, that are all related. In a real world context, clans are usually formed to provide support for each members. Some of that philosophy is likely applied here. They have been attempting to hunt down 'cold' voids like the Cold Void. However, when they emerged, the clan was unprepared and thus needed the help of the players.
The only known members are Hayaka and Ice Cat, though it is known that other members exist.
