Arisa Hoshi (星 アリサ Hoshi Arisa) is a character in Act-Age manga series. She is founder and CEO of Stars Agency.
She was an actress when she was young but at one time she had an emotional breakdown because of method acting in a play directed by Yujiro Iwao, as said by Sumiji Kuroyama. She said that she didn't create Stars Agency to ruin an actor's life and for her, actors exist for the masses/audience. She is the mother of Akira Hoshi who is also an actor, but she didn't have an expectation of him to follow her path as a famous actor.
Appearance
Arisa has long light-colored hair in a bun with a long bang hanging from her right side and light-colored eyes.
In her initial appearance, she wore a light-colored shirt, dark-colored pants, and light-colored shoes.
Personality
Arisa is known to have a cold and candid personality which draws from her emotional breakdown during a method acting play.
Background
Plot
In her office at Stars Agency, Arisa gets into an argument with Sumiji about Kei's rejection from the audition. The following day, she partakes as a judge in the final round of the acting audition with Kei acting as a fill in to the last minute drop out. In the end, however, she once again fails Kei, even though she recognizes Kei's talent as an actress.
Etymology
- The name Arisa is written in katakana (アリサ), which has no special meaning. However, when written in kanji (有沙 or 有紗), it could possibly mean:
- 有沙 - "exist" (有) (ari) and "sand" (沙) (sa).
- 有紗 - "exist" (有) (ari) and "thread, silk" (紗) (sa).
- Arisa's surname Hoshi means "star" (星).
