Master Bug (Mushi Hermit in Japanese) is a fictional character from Zoids: Wild. He is a reclusive hermit who is a master Zoid Seeker.
Overview
Zoids Wild
Master Bug is first introduced as Quade's old master. He lives in a reclusive set of temples along with his Gyro. Team Freedom seek him out in episode 21. They look to train under him to get strong enough to oppose Gigaboss.
He succeeds in training team Freedom, but it's slowly revealed that he's not just Quade's master. He was also the master of Gigaboss.
While unbeknown to the rest of the party, he also had met Arashi's Father in the past.
His plot is slightly expanded on in episode 44, where Arashi revisits him seeking information about the Great Ancient Treasure Z. It turns out that the ruins he resides at are the source of the legend, containing the details about the Liger, Demise, and the mysterious Zoid Key left to Arashi by Quade.
Personality
Master Bug is a strange man, who makes up stories in his spare time. Due to his lack of contact with the outside world, he is largely oblivious to current events happening around him, and has an intense desire for books to fill the time.
Ability as a Zoid pilot
Master Bug is a master Zoid pilot. His skills are second to none. He is easily able to take on many Zoids at once, even fighting the three members of Team Freedom simultaneously, without any effort.
Relationships
Master Bug has his own unique relationships with the following characters:
Arashi: Arashi trains hard under the Master Bug, but is often frustrated at his standoff-ish nature. It is thanks to Master Bug's training that Arashi helps overcome his headstrong style of combat.
Gigaboss: Master Bug trained Gigaboss, but Gigaboss was much more power-hungry than the hermit.
Quade: Master Bug trained Bacon, the two were seen to have a close bond as Bacon was much more fun-loving that Gigaboss.
Ikazuchi: Arashi's father met Master Bug some time in the last 10 years. He mastered Zoid Hunting wile on his journey.

- In the Japanese version, the Mushi Hermit is shown to lecherous. This is significantly toned down in the dub, and instead his desire it just have any reading material.
