Winter is a recurring season and mechanic in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]
Overview
Winter is a season both in real life and in The Legend of Zelda series. Winter is the season during both the end and start of a calendar year, although not in The Legend of Zelda series. Winter is linked to snowfall, which often occurs during the season, so snowy areas in The Legend of Zelda games are implicitly winter.
Majora's Mask
In Majora's Mask, the Snowhead Region undergoes constant winter.
Oracle of Seasons
In Oracle of Seasons, during the winter, the Overworld color palette turns a blueish hue. Lakes and ponds freeze, with portions turning into ice or cracked ice. Large snowdrifts and ramps will also appear, alongside smaller piles of snow. Certain Trees will lose their leaves and turn into bare trunks, allowing passage through otherwise-blocked areas.
It is the first season that can be controlled with the Rod of Seasons, as granted by the Spirit of Winter.
Twilight Princess
In Twilight Princess, certain fish show up at Hena's Fishing Hole during the winter, like with the other seasons.
