The National Broadcasting Company, initialized as NBC, is an American[1] broadcast television network channel.[2] Founded on June 19, 1926,[3] and launched on radios on November 15, 1926,[4] and on television on April 30, 1939.[5] It is known for its collection of TV shows and host shows.[6]
History
When NBC aired, it first became known as a radio station,[3] then started airing on television years later.[3] NBC went ahead and used "color" onscreen in the 1950s, using it on many shows and movies.[7]
On October 11, 1975, NBC aired Saturday Night Live,[8] which got popular due to the celebrities and comedy in the show.[9][8] During the first two seasons, the show was titled "NBC's Saturday Night" until the name changed due to another show with the same name getting cancelled.[8][10]
On February 17, 2014, the popular host show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon aired and became popular overtime.[11]
Channel
The NBC YouTube channel was created on June 12th, 2006. They mainly upload content about their broadcast highlights and clips, which are uploaded nearly every day.[12]
