Anthony Potero^{[citation needed]} (born: July 30, 2001 (2001-07-30) [age 23])^{[citation needed]}, also known as anthpo^{[citation needed]}, is an American^{[citation needed]} YouTuber known for his comedy and vlog videos.

He went viral with a video called "Harassing people with fat yoshi"^{[citation needed]} and achieved additional fame with "Defending my high school as Ben 10" and "Disturbing Students as Perry the Platypus".^{[citation needed]}

Once entering college, his content began to change. He gained additional attention for collaborations with 'The House Nobody Asked For' during 2020 and early 2021, and his current group of friends until graduating. He uploaded his final video before going on a hiatus on May 14, 2023.^[1] As of May 14, 2024, he has since returned to YouTube.^[2]

Personal life

Potero was born on July 30, 2001 in Woolwich Township, New Jersey. He ran track at Kingsway High School and graduated in 2019. He was a student at Rutgers University where he studied marketing. He graduated in May of 2023. He owns two cats, Boots and Fuzz, both of them which he revealed in his video "we adopted kittens and it's epic".^[3]

Content

The first video featured on his channel was from December of 2018 and titled "USB mouse making my car fly". He soon began posting videos within his high school, which involved interactions with fellow students. Anthony would do such things as hand out pictures of fat Yoshi, dress up as Perry the Platypus, and give out free cookies at lunch. Once entering college, he continued doing the same shenanigans, up until the pandemic hit. Anthony began branching out with his content, particularly using greenscreens. With this, he made parodies of various TV shows, like Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Office, Breaking Bad and iCarly. Some of those were collaborations with members of 'The House Nobody Asked For' (aka THNAF), which was a TikTok group started by fellow creator Wahony. Most frequent would be 8illy, who Anthony still occasionally collaborates with. The group lived together from July 2020 until December 2020, still living close by until spring 2021. ^{[citation needed]}

Once moving back to Jersey for on campus classes, his videos would slightly change in style. He currently does vlog videos under the name "The College Experience™"^[4] where he gets himself into shenanigans with his friends. Most noteworthy is Henry, who was featured in many early college videos. Other present faces are Hanbon, Kieran, Collin, Paige, Enzo, Janice, Abhi, and so many more. He plans to do this until he graduates from college. He recently released 'friends' merch containing pictures of him and his friends in celebration of this new change in focus as well as just his friends in general. ^{[citation needed]}

New Era

On May 14th 2024, Anthony decided to return to the world of YouTube after he get bombarded by a lot of DMs from other social media like Twitter, Instagram,... and doesn't know what to do after graduation. He managed to hire a team of 9 people due to the fact that all of his friends went on their own direction to pursue their future. ^{[citation needed]}

On May 16th 2024, he changed his banner as a countdown for how much videos he has made or he will choke an old lady.^{[citation needed]}

Prior to announcing his return to YouTube, Anthpo masqueraded as the 'Cheeseball Man' and ate a large amount of cheeseballs at an event. This caused him to be invited to more events and become an internet superhero. He also started a rivalry with the Cornhead Killer, a supervillain and in actuality fellow youtuber Andrew Video. Anthpo was unaware of the Cornhead Killer's real identity due to Andrew's use of a burner phone and masks, learning of the identity along with everyone else during a livestreamed showdown.

He was the mastermind behind the 'Timothee Chalamet Lookalike Contest' which the real Timothee Chalamet appeared at. The contest started a trend of many lookalike contests, even getting mentions on popular shows such as SNL. There were 2000 attendees to his contest, and the police showed up forcing Anthpo to move locations, and even arresting multiple people.

On November 23rd 2024, he started a separate vlog channel called 'we move out soon' where he uploads vlogs of him and his roommates Hanbon, Paige, and Berto, all of whom previously appeared in his College Experience videos. Also appearing in them are their friends Henry and Kieran, as well as youtubers such as Coy Piso, who lived with them for a short amount of time. Henry, Kieran and youtuber Wahony later moved in with them, and Paige moved out. The channel will stop uploading in May of 2025 when their lease ends.

Collaborations

His first collaboration on YouTube was with Caroline Konstnar.^[5]

He allegedly got PewDiePie to join his birthday livestream on 2020. Though actually, it was 8illy in a full-body greenscreen suit with pictures of PewDiePie on it.^[6]

The same thing happened when he uploaded a video with him playing Among Us with famous YouTubers and streamers (PewDiePie, penguinz0, Pokimane, Dream, Logic, Corpse Husband, James Charles, DanTDM, Valkyrae, Sykkuno).^[7] When in reality, it's just his friends portraying as these YouTubers. He has, however, actually played with other YouTubers on videos not uploaded by him (such as on one of Alpharad's many Among Us videos).^{[citation needed]}

Controversy

Furry Convention

In May 15th 2024, as part of his comeback to YouTube, Anthony uploaded a video titled "I spend 200 days undercover as a Furry", talking about his experience in a Furry Convention, while also trying to attend private Furry parties with sexual connotations through business cards and joining Telegram groups. The original version of the video featured an Animal Crossing recreation of his experience at a party in which its members put themselves together naked side by side in a bed. This was followed by a scene in which Anthony participated in a "cuddling party", in which people in underwear hugged each other. This last portion filming style resembled such of hidden camera videos, with certain body parts and faces being blurred and voices distorted.^[8]

After receiving some criticism on Twitter from members from the Furry community, specially regarding the consent of the people featured in the cuddling party and the possibility of the video reinforcing stereotypes about the community,^[9] and the video being age restricted, Anthony released an apology on Twitter explaining that consent was giving for the filming of the party, while deleting those parts of the video and putting up a fundraiser for The Trevor Project.^[10]
