External Guides
General Guides

This website has a lot of information. Some general trivia and information can be found here. This guide has a list of bugs/glitches, the website also contains a modding tutorial, but please do not attempt to do so, without knowing what you're doing.

Combat Guides

This video has a lot of information regarding the competitive scene. The Infinite Attack Explot (IAE) can be done in Yo-kai Watch 1 (Switch and 3DS), Japanese versions of Yo-kai Watch 2, and pre 2.0 versions of Bony Spirits, and Fleshy Souls. It allows the user to skip the enemies turn, and can theoretically be chained infinitely, it is very difficult on most games, and is nearly impossible on the switch version of Yo-kai Watch 1. A guide for it can be found here.

Item Guides

This guide is extremely powerful, it manipulates the Yo-kai Cam to get several Holy Exporbs. It is extremely easy, infinitely repeatable, has no consequences (other than perhaps making the game less fun), and can be done very early on, but doesn't work on the Switch. For the Switch version you can instead do the Inferno method found in the Tips section.

Yo-kai Guides

This guide makes getting Noko easier. The following guide (which can be found here) is a tutorial on how to obtain Skranny easily. This guide helps with Pandanoko/Starry Noko in all games!

QR Code/Password Guides

This website has a comprehensive list of Passwords and QR Codes. This playlist is full of information, free Items, tips and more! This page in the wiki is largely incomplete, but has some useful QR Code's.

Tips

In Yo-kai Watch for Nintendo Switch/1s (and Yo-kai Watch 1), if you go to the 7th Circle of the Infinite inferno and progress until you reach a narrow hallway (which should have two connected brown bridges and should be door "EE" in the 7th Circle in the Prima game guide). Go in and out of that door, and watch the map carefully. If you see a Yo-kai icon in the bottom-right of the checkmark-shaped area (NOT directly diagonal to you; down and barely left), you can carefully check and see what it is. If it's Bloominoko, it will be wedged into that corner and won't move until you get close to it (so, if you watch the icon on the map, if it doesn't move from the corner, you can be sure). Fight the Bloominoko (use Sleep n' Study for extra EXP), and if you feel like it, you can stall for a wisp to get more EXP (especially effective if you're lucky enough to have befriended Pandanoko). That Bloominoko should give you a minimum of around 24,000 EXP, more than a Holy Exporb for every Yo-kai on your team. Once you memorize the place that Bloominoko spawns, it becomes very easy to do without much focus.

Helmsman and Armsman can be found in the Old Mansion in Blossom Heights and both love Veggies. This can give you a strong early-game A rank Yo-kai: Reuknight. Other good starting Yo-kai include Betterfly which can be obtained through Fusion very early on in the game, and Appak, as you get Walkappa by default and you just have to level him up a little bit to evolve him.

Snartle, gets stronger the higher your Watch Rank is. Before you upgrade your Watch Rank, level up your Yo-kai a bit and then challenge him (His favorite food is Meat). Alternatively, you could get Zerberker: One way to befriend Zerberker is to complete the post-game quest An Offered Sword, which is given by the old lady visiting the Fortune Hospital in Downtown Springdale during daytime. Obtain a Betrayed Blade by defeating White Reuknights at Hooligan Road in the Yo-kai World, then go to the graveyard behind the Shoten Temple at night, and give Zerberker his lost sword. He will then fight the player and join the player automatically once they defeat him.

Draggie, a Yo-kai you get near the end of the game, has an ability that lets your entire team gain more experience. Evolving him makes him lose this ability, which cannot be reobtained until post-game. so only do so once you no longer deem it necessary.

Sometimes, an Item will drop when you complete a crossing successfully (cross on a green light). Additionally, if you start off in a crosswalk but reach the pavement without the crossing, it won't count as crossing. Cupistol and Shmoopie have the ability Popularity, which increases the Befriending rate. Additionally, Cynake and Wantston both have the ability Greed, which increases item drops.

You can use Items at the very start of a battle instead of just hitting the fight button. Use this to feed enemies to increasing Befriending rates, or Talismans on your own Yo-kai for tough fights. Other GUI Tricks include:

  • Charging a Soultimate while at the same time feeding Yo-kai.
  • Targeting a Wisp before your Soultimate finishes off an enemy group.
  • Rotating the party wheel, even while your Yo-kai are still in the middle of an action (note: this also applies to enemies, so you can't use this to dodge attacks).
  • Using X to toggle the fast forward switch for 2X speed.
  • Charging and Cancelling a Soultimate at the perfect time skips the enemies turns (this can theoretically be chained forever).

During Terror Time, don't forget to use Staminium and keep in mind that the Oni's run faster than you do, so avoid situations where you have to travel a distance farther than your visible map range and there's nothing you can use to loop around, forcing the Oni to waste time. Most Food categories have their own stores dedicated to that Food type, except Juice, which is actually just any beverage that's not Milk. VoltXtreme's are expensive, so save them for important Yo-kai and use Milk instead if you want to recharge Soultimates.

You can change your Yo-kai's names if you talk to a Wazzat in the office building behind the desk at night. Negative inspirits on opponents can help replenish a Yo-kai's Soultimate Bar by having their Yo-kai friends attack them while the opponent is under the inspirits. Do note that the opponent Yo-kai can purify themselves to rid themselves of negative inspirits when enough time has passed.

Attitudes are extremely important. Exploit the Yo-kai Cam, it's on a 64-day cycle so find the reward you want and change the date in settings over and over again.

General Guides

This website functions as a mini-wiki for the game. This spreadsheet is very, very useful especially if you don't trust the wiki especially in combination with THIS spreadsheet (a lifesaver). This website has some Extremely useful guides for Yo-kai Watch 2.

Another exploit is DIE (Double Item Exploit), it works in YW2/YW3 and a tutorial can be found here.

Item Guides

This guide gives a ton of currency and equipment (it is however, worse than the Dame Demona method, see below)

Yo-kai Guides

This guide helps you obtain Don Chan, and unlock the festival. This guide helps with Pandanoko/Starry Noko in all games!

QR Code/Password Guides

This gives you 95 Special Coin QR codes, allowing you to get powerful Crank-a-kai exclusives very early on, which helps with Boss Fights, and completing the Medallium. This alternate video also gives 25 although most of the codes overlap. This website has a list of QR codes for challenging special Yo-kai. This playlist has a ton of useful information on coins, Legendary Yo-kai, special Yo-kai and more! This is another one for Psychic Specters.

Tips

You can infinitely duplicate all Yo-kai you have. You need: one copy of any game, one copy of BS/FS, one copy of Psychic Specters, where B is BS/FS, A is one copy of any game, and B:C is B's copy of Psychic Specters: A trades to B, B upgrades to B.C, B.C trades to A. B trades to A, B.C wipes data, B wipes data, repeat. This can be done infinitely and duplicates all Yo-kai that B has.

If you have a modded 3ds, changing the time via GodMode9 (which should be installed) dosen't activate Gargaros. This effectively bypasses ALL time barriers and is extremely useful although is technically "cheating". Another useful technique that you can exploit on a modded 3ds is the ability to get sailornyan, robonyan F, and machonyan (NOTE: These Yo-kai's cannot be save-edited in without their bell, making them one of the only yo-kai's that can't be cheated in normally). Via the Hshop you can download the data, it does depend on your 3ds reigion (not your real-life location) which can be found in system settings i.e. 11.17.0-50E means european where E stands for european. Here is the link to the European one.

Before updating to V2 of Bony Sprits/Fleshy Souls, get Wondernyan, as in the Oni Evolution update (excluding Psyschic Specters), Wondernyan is unobtainable due to a bug. Before transferring save data to Psyschic Specters, trade all of your Yo-kai to that save as the transferring is actually a duplication process as you can still trade away the Yo-kai in both games. This page in the wiki is largely incomplete, but has some useful QR Code's.

After you beat the game, you can refight Dame Demona unlimited times by putting Vacuumory, (the fusion of Flushback and the Mem-o-Vac) at a Baffle Board outside of the Old Springdale Station. This gives a ton of exp, 50-100 of your currency (without buffs) along with a Mighty Medicine, or rarely a Holy Exporb. In the Infinite Tunnel find The Tangler, sometimes he will ask one of these questions: 1. "Where do you want to set up your life" in which case say somewhere cold. 2. "Who is the most important person" in which case say yourself. Both of these give good items. Sidequests have exclusive item rewards, Auto-Befriends, and are the only way to unlock some essential game features. A very important one is Don Chan's quest "Inspirited Away", a guide for it can be found here.Always keep some Mighty Medicine, and top-class Food, not only will they help in tough battles, but will help if you spot a rare encounter such as Skranny, (they are usually a re-color of familiar Yo-kai).

Even though most time-skip exploits have been fixed, there is still a way to exploit the Yo-kai Cam, if you skip exactly 64 days forward, it won't detect the time-skip. (unverified). Snartle, gets stronger the higher your Watch Rank is. Before you upgrade your Watch Rank, level up your Yo-kai a bit and then challenge him (His favorite food is Meat). Alternatively, you could get Zerberker by fusing Hissfit with a Raging Blade, which can be bought in Whatta Find. Souls are extremely important, learn about Rare Souls, and get them. Another way to quickly get money is, in Psychic Specters you can farm the Daiz on the Happy Lucky-go Express.

Lottery Guide:

  1. Collect Lottery Tickets, this can be done by going to Tranquility Apartments, collecting the Items and saving, then quitting to title screen and repeating.
  2. Go to the shop and save before using the tickets, if you didn't win, restart, sleep then retry, saving and using tickets until you win. Here is an explanation of how this works: every lottery ticket is already pre-determined once you get it, so you can’t reset to try again, but this is used to our advantage, in a sense. Use all the lottery tickets you have to see if you get the item you want. If you don’t get it, go back to the title screen without saving so you get your lottery tickets back. Here is where we abuse the pre-determined tickets system. Let’s say the first ticket you used when spending all your tickets gave you the number 1. Resetting won’t give you a different number since it’s pre-determined. But, if you reset and sleep until the next day, check the lottery. If prize number 1 has already been taken, that means the first ticket you used that originally gave you number 1, will now give you a different number. Even though the game pre-determines the ticket numbers, it doesn’t stop the game (or other kids who play the candy shop lottery, I mean those prizes go somewhere) from letting that number be claimed by someone else.

Tips

If you have a modded 3ds, changing the time via GodMode9 (which should be installed) dosen't activate Gargaros. This effectively bypasses ALL time barriers and is extremely useful although is technically "cheating".

DO Blasters T! It gives extremely easy Forbidden Fruit, Black Dolls, and EXP. Sidequests have exclusive item rewards, Auto-Befriends, and are the only way to unlock some essential game features DO THEM. For Blasters T, be a fighter/tank, and select atleast one healer now that the servers are down, relying on bad AI is your only option (without mods). For any dungeon where the recommended level is "?" you can put all your party's equipment in the backpack, start the mission, then re-equip it all to now plow through a super easy dungeon overleveled. This does effect enemy dropped equipment (which will now be a weaker tier), but not Clu-T-Facts, so abuse it! Bring a ranger. A lot of folks seem to skip it but you need one. Specifically one that either disarms traps or can find the stairs. Treasure Pest is good because it disarms traps, will point you in the direction of chests, and increases your chance of finding Clu-T-facts. But Hinozal Awoken deserves a mention, since his power is to just give you the entire map. Some other good ones are Komanubis, Boracle, Mooglenyan, and Jibanyan T, but Treasure Pest is really easy to get so there's almost no point to using any others. Bring at least one decent healer. Fukurokuju is really good and just having him in the party takes the sting off of any dungeon. He has Paradise instead of restore, boosts revival speeds, bestows regen, and his soultimate revives, there's a lot to love. And he's also pretty easy to get, as you just buy his aura to fight him. Other alternatives could be mixed healers like Mooglenyan (again, as a ranger/healer), Righteous Zazel, Shadow Venoct, and Meowpatra. But some budget alternatives are Tomorrow Gal, Pinkie Poo/Casanuva, Emenyan, Betterfly, and Nurse Tongus. Always have an aura. Once you get the Dream Vacuum + Green Gramps baffle board, Ghastly Fragments become super easy to get. So no excuse not to use an aura every time using Li'l Yora at the blasters camp. Useful ones are Bada-BLING (godly strength boost), Legendary (moderate HP and strength boost), Beaming (rapid health recovery), Adventurer (shows location of stairs), Boxing (befriends the first foe the character you control defeats), Great Fortune (Clu-T-Facts much more likely to appear), Extreme Porous Aura (first 2 chests are always Clu-T-Facts), Miracle (revives your entire party once when all are down), Lordly (immune to traps, and you move faster) and Cursed Aura (traps and jinxes don't effect you). Auras are incredibly broken, so use them! You can switch the Yokai you're controlling by tapping their icon on the bottom screen.

Lottery Guide:

  1. Collect Lottery Tickets, this can be done by unlocking the Greengramps Baffle Board, and trading in Trash for Lottery Tickets.
Tips

Do the true challenge missions

The best Yo-kai to play as, are generally strong physical(spirit based moves are generally a bit too slow for the amount of damage they do) fighters with the ability to dodge or fall back attack/critical hit based builds can do large levels of DPS, but require the user to be profficient at using them, some options with a lower skill ceiling are usapyon's racer outfit (most usapyon forms can be pretty good but this is generally the strongest one) and moximous N. The AI teammates aren't very good, so you are gonna want good supporters to boost your stats/drop the boss' stats (mainly their defense). Alternatively, you could pair it with some healers and a tank. Usapyon is amazing in blasters, get the invader chip (it's a qr code item) and give it to him
