Ashura

MAJIMA CONSTRUCTION IS AT WORK! This article is a stub and is under construction.

Ashura (阿修羅) is a primarily Sotenbori-based gang featured as the main antagonistic force in Kurohyou 2: Ryu ga Gotoku Ashura-hen.

History

Ashura was founded by ex-juvenile correction center inmate Yasuto Akita in 2010. In the beginning, Ashura was a small underground fighting club that began with 10 former juvenile delinquents. Ever since Ryo Nozaki joined the group as Akita's advisor, and taking the role as a physician, Ashura became a much more powerful hangure.

As of 2012, most of the early founding members, who were former juvenile delinquents, disaffiliated themselves from the group due to Yasuto Akita changing the way his leadership worked. However, Ashura had more than 100 men by that point. They also started gaining finance on the side through criminal activity, such as extortion, kidnapping, smuggling modified model guns that were capable of firing both steel ball bearings and real ammunition, entertainment business fronts for loan shark businesses (one example being a business named OS Productions), human traffickers, organ harvesters, etc. Ashura were also known for contract killing, which was labeled as a Human Hunting game hosted by a Dark Web site named Non-Heaven (非天). It is revealed later that Nozaki was the one behind the criminal activity side of Ashura, noting each of their activities down in his so-called "prophecy books".

During Kurohyou 2: Ryu ga Gotoku Ashura-hen, Ashura became associates with both Kozo Nioka and Tadashi Tsurumi, and start to raid Kamurocho. The low-level thugs started to attack juvenile delinquents or young potential fighters to cut off the supply of new fighters for Dragon Heat. In the meeting between Dragon Heat and Ashura, Ashura agreed to stop the attack and leave Kamurocho after eight consecutive wins against Ashura's Eight Legions (阿修羅八部衆, Ashura hachibushū). But if Tatsuya Ukyo was defeated instead, Ryusho Kuki would hand over the Kuki Family's deed for Dragon Heat over to Ashura.

This agreement was designed to help the Nioka Family and Tsurumi's plan of destroying Dragon Heat. They had worked together due to their common interests. Since gambling was legalized in Japan, Tsurumi drew up a scheme called the "Kamurocho Vegas Plan" (神室町べガス計画), a plan to make Kamurocho more gambling-friendly.

Ashura was disbanded after the head of the Eight Legions, Yasuto Akita, was fatally shot by an unknown sniper, presumably by Ryo Nozaki or someone Ryo hired, and the suicide of its actual leader, Ryo Nozaki.

Trivia

  • The name of Ashura's Dark Web site, Non-Heaven (非天), is another name for the Asura realm in Buddhism.
  • The Eight Legions are based on the Eight Legions of Buddhism, which were a group of demigods who protected the Dharma, which was the action of upholding the religion of Buddhism and keeping true to it.
  • The relationship between Ashura and the Omi Alliance seems to be a mutual non-aggression. When Tatsuya was framed for the murder of Yasuto Akita and was getting attacked by Ashura thugs in Sotenbori, Tetsuji Shima, who became a driver for a certain Omi Alliance subsidiary family's Captain, hid Tatsuya in his vehicle. When the Ashura thugs realized that Shima was a former pro boxer and is now affiliated with the Omi Alliance, the thugs abandon the search and run away.
