Zettar

High Prince Zettar is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country. He is the brother of the Tornan King and Addam's uncle. He is first in line to the Tornan throne. He holds a resentment towards his nephew and his ways, due to having more popular support than Zettar himself. He often offers the Tornan King advice and calls him "brother".

Story

After Malos proved too powerful for Amalthus to control, Amalthus traveled to the Kingdom of Torna to find a Driver for the second Aegis core. Zettar attempted to awaken Mythra but failed to do so, prompting Addam to become Mythra's Driver. This, combined with Addam's popularity in the Kingdom, caused Zettar to resent Addam.

Later, Addam's party holds a conference with the Tornan King, Zettar, and Amalthus upon reaching Auresco. Zettar attempts to punish Addam's militia for traveling freely throughout the Kingdom, but the Tornan King refuses to and grants the militia free movement through Torna's borders. The King also attempts to enfeoff Addam as Lord of Heblin, though Addam refuses the offer. Zettar later questions why the King would do this; the King replies, to Zettar's fury, that Addam would make for a much better king than himself or Zettar.

Zettar attempts to punish Addam's crew once more after Malos escapes Auresco with the Tornan Titan's seal. However, the Tornan King once again sides with Addam, pointing out that Addam's men fought Malos while Zettar's soldiers fled with the townspeople. After Lora is knighted the following morning, Zettar vents his frustrations to Amalthus, claiming that Addam being the Driver of the Aegis gave him his popularity. He later asks Amalthus of Malos' actions, and Amalthus responds that the destruction of the world is the will of the Architect.

When Mythra defeats Malos, the ensuing destruction destroys Auresco. Zettar attempts to flee with the Tornan King, but his brother refuses to abandon the capital, so Zettar leaves alone. He is last seen in the Indoline Praetorium with Amalthus and Stannif.

Trivia

• Considering that Zettar sided against Addam frequently and that he survived Torna's destruction, many suspect that Zettar was the one who falsely claimed Addam's bloodline to form the Kingdom of Tantal.
  • The scene of Zettar in Indol could possibly hint at him negotiating the Core Chip deal with the Praetorium.
• Zettar's Japanese voice actor, Yasuyuki Kase, also voices Poppibuster in the main game.
