Arena Season 9 (Vicious) commenced on 14 December 2010, one week after the release of Cataclysm and ended on June 28, 2011, coinsiding with the release of patch 4.2.0. The season lasted 28 weeks.
Season 9 is notable for being the first season with rated battlegrounds. It also introduced some new features such as War Games, which are player managed unrated arena battles.
