- Geralt and Ciri find refuge with Nivellen, but results in Nivellen's secret lover, Vereena, being killed after a fight with the witcher.
- Fringilla's remaining troops are attacked and killed by elves, who then take her and Yennefer prisoner.
- The two later join Francesca and awaken the Deathless Mother, with Fringilla and Francesca forming an alliance between the elves and Nilfgaard's forces.
- Francesca becomes pregnant with the first pureblood elf in decades.
- Yennefer leaves and makes her way back to Aretuza.
- Geralt and Ciri arrive at Kaer Morhen, where Ciri is trained to fight like a witcher.
- Eskel is infected by a forest leshy, resulting in a mercy killing by his fellow witchers.
- At Aretuza, many question Yennefer's loyalty to the North, so subsequently demand she kill Cahir in front of the North's rulers. Taking control of her own life, she instead frees him and they flee together.
- In Gors Velen, they seek out the Sandpiper. However, Yennefer ends up captured and to escape, she agrees to the Deathless Mother's terms: to bring Ciri to a monolith in Cintra.
- Lydia van Bredevoort hires Rience on behalf of her mysterious employer to bring Princess Cirilla to her.
- Geralt takes Ciri to the Temple of Melitele, where the two end up meeting Yennefer.
- Francesa gives birth to a baby girl.
- Rience and the Michelet brothers later attack the Temple of Melitele. Yennefer uses this distraction to teleport herself and Ciri away.
- With help from friends, Geralt is able to catch up to Ciri and Yennefer in Cintra. He confronts the sorceress just as she has a change of heart on realizing how much Ciri means to Geralt.
- Francesca's baby is killed.
- Geralt sends Ciri and Jaskier back to Kaer Morhen, but in route Ciri becomes possessed by Voleth Meir.
- Once at the keep, the possessed Ciri kills some of the witchers before a fight ensues in the great hall.
- Yennefer offers to sacrifice herself to free Ciri.
- Ciri manages to teleport herself, Geralt, and a yet un-possessed Yennefer to Voleth Meir's realm, resulting in Voleth Meir leaving her host to re-join the Wild Hunt. Ciri then teleports the three back to their home world.
- Emhyr var Emreis arrives in Cintra and reveals himself to be Ciri's dead father.

- About six months earlier, Jaskier hears the story of the seven.
- Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer go in search of a home and sure, away from those who are hunting Ciri, causing them to move around a bit.
- Francesca and the elves are searching for Princess Cirilla of Cintra for her Elder Blood and to use her to restore the elves to their former glory.
- Philippa Eilhart and Prince Radovid make a deal with Jaskier to bring Ciri to Redania for King Vizimir.
- Geralt, Ciri and Yennefer, along with Yarpen's men, ambush Rience and his men in Shaerrawedd. The elves also attack but are not able to get a hold of Ciri.
- Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer go their separate ways to keep Ciri safe.
- Gallatin makes a deal with Cahir.
- Geralt with Jaskier visit detectives Codringher and Fenn, seeking information on the whereabouts of Rience and the mage who is supporting him. Codringher and Fenn reveal that this powerful sorcerer does dirty work in the abandoned Vuilpanne Castle.
- Geralt discovers in the castle many dead girls, but is able to find one that's alive and saves her. He also discovers that the young woman he saved believes she is Ciri.
- Jaskier helps Geralt with the false Ciri he found, taking her to a druid, Anika. They learn the young girl was part of a mind control experiment, implanting her with Ciri's memories to believe that is she Cirilla.
- Rience burns Codringher and Fenn alive.
- Yennefer and Ciri are on their way to Aretuza. The two end up having a fight and the princess sneaks away into the night.
- Istredd investigates a book of monoliths.
- Triss investigates the disappearance of the novices.
- Fringilla, having managed to fake her death to escape prison, eventually makes her way north on hearing of the mages' upcoming meeting.
- Ciri, having found Geralt, goes with him to Aretuza.
- The mages throw a party to achieve peace with the mages of the north.
- Cahir informs Francesca and the elves that the White Flame wants to support them in their search for Ciri.
- Geralt and Yennefer attend Aretuza's party alongside many other mages.
- At the party the two expose Stregobor for stealing the book of monoliths and kidnapping novices.
- Geralt and Yennefer realize too late they were wrong: Stregobor was used as a red herring and in actuality Vilgefortz was behind everything.
- Thanedd coup breaks out that very night, resulting in many mages being killed or injured. In the chaos, Ciri manages to escape and ends up in the Korath desert.
- Geralt, having been injured in the fight, is taken to be healed by the dryads.
- Yennefer becomes the new leader after Tissaia takes her own life.
- Jaskier and Milva join Geralt on his journey to rescue Ciri.
- Nilfgaard welcomes Teryn under the name Ciri as queen.
- Philippa secretly has Vizimir assassinated and crowns Radovid the new king of Redania.
- Ciri travels alone through the desert, meets a Unicorn and has hallucinations of her mother and grandmother. She meets a woman who reveals herself to be the infamous Falka.
- Falka persuades her to become one with fire, but Ciri refuses and gives up her powers.
- Ciri joins a group of criminals called "The Rats" and takes the name Falka.
